I noticed some people had mentioned that the KOW KS had some new units for the elves, but I can't seem to find much in the way of info about them or pictures. This is also not helped by the fact that the Kickstarter page has nearly half of the images missing. What were the new units that were being added to the High Elves? I'd seen mention of the Palace Guard, but there's pretty much no info regarding them on the Kickstarter page. Were they reworked into restic? I'd asked about them in the thread in News and Rumors, but I was immediately drowned out by people complaining about Ogre hands. Were the Palace Guard supposed to just be the same molds in a new material, or were they going to be new sculpts? And does anyone have pictures of the new Palace Guards?

Same model in restic, I believe. I have mine and like them.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yes I believe so, if not they are so similar as makes no difference. I haven't assembled mine so can't offer a pic though.

The other Elf unit from the KS are the Stormwind cavalry, like the Palace Guard it's the old models redone in restic. These are coming out in 'wave 3' which is later this year (I think August, so not too far).

Pic from the Mantic forum of a completed new Palace Guard:

Last year's Kings of War Kickstarter.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Hmm. Pic's broken. Shame it was only two new units, and I'm not generally a fan of cavalry. But, it seems that the Palace Guard will give me my fix for elven heavy armor. I can't wait to get my hands on them.

It's pulled from a thread on the Mantic forum where people are posting as they receive and make the new stuff - http://forum.manticblog.com/showthread.php?4790-The-I-got-my-Kickstarter-Stuff-Thread-Round-2!

Shame it was only two new units,

All existing factions only got 2 units (in fact, the Twilight Kin and Abyssal Dwarves only got one each, and one more to share).

Thanks for the link. It's nice to see some size comparison pictures of the new kits. I didn't realize how small the angels would be. I thought they would be at least a full head taller than a Chaos Warrior, not the same size. Oh well. I bet they'll look neat with some Maxmini helmets.

I definitely will need to get those Palace Guards when they hit retail.

I am finding cavalry to be pretty important in Kings of War - not on its own, but in support of some of the larger units.

Well supported attacks seem pretty key - I have slaughtered more than one Horde because my opponent sent it out without protection from flankers. The Revenant cavalry has made a huge difference in flanking, both as the flankers and as protection against potential flankers. (Undead are ssllooww... having some fast reaction units makes a difference.)

It will be interesting to see how the Brock cavalry do. I am planning on painting a unit for my girlfriend.

actually the Palace Guard are the old metal models redone in restic with some NEW weapons (double handed halberd blade thing).

And from what I remember, the new elf cavalry are not the old metal cavalry. Apparently Mantic had a generic hard plastic horse sprue designed (another unsubstantiated rumor is they licensed the Perry horse sprue), and the Elf and Twilight Kin cavalry will be using those.
