Hi, I've recently started playing again and I'm looking at putting a 2000pt army together from my 2 previous armies - Dark Angels and Imperial Guard. This is what I have planned:

I have most of this stuff already, I'd only have to buy the Vendetta's and another Rhino.

The general idea is that this should be a highly mobile force, with lots of scoring units. The 3 Rhinos move forwards into Salvo range on turn 1 and spit out the 2 tac squads and command squad, ready to take advantage of the Standard of Devastation and Librarian's Divination power on turn 2. The Deathwing deploy via Deathwing Assault and use Vengeful Strike on turn 2, taking advantage of the Ravenwing's teleport homers. Azrael runs with a 2-squad IG blob, giving them a 4+ save, ideal for camping an objective. The Platoon Command Squad with flamers and the flamer Special Weapon Squad fly in the Vendetta's ready to be dropped off to take objectives late in the game. For Azrael's warlord trait I'd probably take Brilliant Planning to ensure the Vendettas turn up on time. I figure the Vendetta's and melta bikes can handle anti-armor, there's plenty of anti-infantry between the Tacticals and the Guard, there's a good smattering of plasma and autocannons to pop transports, anti-air is again the Vendettas. Is there anything else I should be thinking of or have missed?

I REALLY like it. however I would play test it first and see if you could outflank the melta attack squadron that way they can come in on somethings rear armor. If it seems the plasma bike squad gets killed too quickly though, just run them both on the board. Let us know how it goes!!

I've never tried outflanking - is it worth the risk? I mean there's a 1/3 chance they come out on the wrong side of the table and could end up doing nothing.

I was thinking that - a previous version of this army had an extra IG infantry squad, but I dropped it to add the Rhinos for the tactical squads, because I was finding I wasn't getting the most out of their salvo boltguns. I suppose the other option would be to take their Rhinos away and have them walk into position, but put the Command Squad in a drop pod or something. That way, until the drop pod turns up at least they could move and still fire their bolters at full range, rather than being reduced to 2 shots at half range.

To be honest, I'd take out the deathwing. I don't think terminators are very competitive, but understand if you want to keep them because they do look cool.
