hi folks

ive been thinking of getting a repressor for my WHs but there seem to be conflicting readings on the rules of this model. IIRC it says in the BBFWB2 (dont have it at work with me) that repressors are only a choice for sisters units. however i have seen a large number being used by players using marines and more often WH/DH storm troopers or arbites, which whilst been drawn from the sisters codex arent actually sisters units. what is the correct ruling as at the moment i only have stormies and dont wanna buy any sisters just yet plus the clarification would be useful next time i have to face one.

any clarification or advice would be very useful

thanks

My copy of the IA update says that: Any Sisters of Battle or Adeptus Arbites unit that can select a Rhino or Immolators may take a Repressor.

So no storm troopers and no Marines.

(what's 'BBFWB2'?)

BBFWB2 = BIG BAD FW BOOK 2

one problem with that comment about arbites but no stormies is that now an arbites squad is actually a sub-squad choice for storm troopers! so to field arbites you are actaully fielding storm troopers.
also since then rules from the update were released the big hard back boock has been released which over rides it iirc this only allows sisters to choose repressors

Alas, as much as I like to, I do not own the BBFWB2.

So I guess I don't know the current rules.  That being said your point about Arbites seems accurate but still a rather odd conclusion.

When I initally saw the firing ports listing in the entry, I had dreams of drive by flamings and double tapping plasmas from my stormtroopers or my SoB armies. But the problem with the repressor is that the IA2 book says that you may only fire bolters out the shooting ports. That makes the transport more limited than one would like and almost tailored just for SoB, unless you paid the points to put a bolter on the Stormtrooper Sgt. So at that point, it's a "so-so" transport for Stromtroopers and you could really do the same thing for less points with a tricked out Rhino.

Adeptus Arbites are simply =I= Stormtroopers with shotguns, per the note in the WH codex. As long as you are using the =I= Stormtroopers entry, and you have equipped them all with shotguns, you can take a Repressor.

That being said, I would allow you to field one with any group of =I= stormtroopers, but not with marines or IG.
