My friend and I are new to the game and this is really only our 3rd time to play each other so let me know if there were any rules we misunderstood. (we did discuss and agree upon anything in question which is rule number 1)

Sorry I don't have more details about his weaponry but I don't speak Eldar
We played long ways (hammer and anvil?) and decided to only have one objective in the very center of the board.
I won first turn and setup with the Drop pod of Sternguard and 2 fliers in reserve along with the Ironclad on board the stormraven.
He setup and was unable to steal the initiative so we started turn 1.

Movement
I went first and scored a perfect landing with my droppod at the back end of the table near his warwalkers (these were deemed the biggest threat to my fliers so they were a priority).
I then moved my Pred. up towards the objective to cover the troops advance. My
Tac squad on the left side of the board moved closer to the objective and gained a better firing position while staying in cover. That concluded my movement phase.
Shooting
My Sternguard jumped out of the droppod and unleashed with there Melta shots on the Warwalkers! and in typical fashion I rolled a bunch of

and only scored 1 hit. (would've been a great time to use my chapter tactics but it was my first time playing with the new codex and I completely forgot about them for the whole game.) The war walker was shaken/ stunned (couldn't move or shoot) and it looked like I was off to another game of poor dice rolling.
Next, my Whirlwind launched a large blast and scored a direct hit on the Rangers killing all but 1! who turned and ran off. Then I opened fire with my Pred on his
WS with the
DA and his Farseer inside the
AC was all snaps and missed but the 1
LC that could get the shot off did manage to pen and got a weapon destroyed! (question does the serpent field count as a weapon? If so does it still get to be a shield if it gets destroyed? This was discussed more than once through the night.) I then opened fire with my rightside
Tac squad and had no effect on his Falcon.
Dreading the up coming Eldar firing squad I was just about to end my turn when I remembered my
CM has his Orbital bombardment! this also scored a direct hit and wipedout all but 2 Warpspiders!
Eldar Turn 1
Movement
Still upset about his Warp spiders and rangers my friend tried to salvage the situation by maneuvering his
WS of gaurdians up the right side of the board and unloaded them into some ruins. He also moved his Vyper up the left side to cover the Gaurdians. He then unloaded his
DA and his Farseer on the left side and advanced up to some ruins. Finally he moved the Warpspiders towards the Sternguard to help the Walkers.
Shooting
He opened fire with his Falcon, lance platform, Vyper and right side
WS all against my Pred Stunning the crew and removing 2
HP. He then opened fire against my Sternguard with his Warpspiders and killed 1.
He then used his Eldar powers to move again with the
DA further into the ruins and advanced the Warpspiders closer to my Sternguard.

Space Marines
Movement
Relieved that my Pred had both drawn all his fire and survived, I rolled for my reserves and successfully moved my Stormraven onto the board with the Stormtalon as escort. Let me stop here and say this is our first game to use fliers. OK, back to the action. My Dread scattered while trying to disembark and landed softly in some ruins next to the guardians. he passed the dangerous terrain test for the landing and squared up to engage the
WS. My Sternguard got as close as possible to the walkers to ensure a successful charge and I went into the next phase
Shooting
First my Whirlwind blasted his
DA killing 2. Then I opened fire from my Pred with all snapshots against the right side
WS and missed. Then I shot both
Tac squad
LCs against the Left
WS and scored a hit. I then opened fire with the Melta on the Dread and finished off the Leftside
WS. I totally didn't think about the special rounds the Sternguard had and was too focused on getting them into hand to hand with the walkers so I didn't shoot with them. I did open fire with both fliers against the Falcon tank and shaken/stunned the crew and removed 2
HP. the Storm raven also used the power of the machine spirit to open fire with the hurricane bolters against the Guardians killing 3.
Assault
I successfully charged the Warwalkers with my Sternguard and at the end of combat I had lost 1 Sternguard and he lost the one Walker that already had a
HP removed.
Eldar turn 2
By now he was losing heart
Movement
He regrouped his gaurdians for squad coherency. Moved the
DA and Farseer into the ruins and closed the gap to assault the Sternguard.
Shooting
Still obsessed with my Pred he opened fire with his remaining crippled
WS lance platform and Vyper all dice resulted in his being frustrated and my Pred still alive. His Farseer even trough his spear and then rolled a

on the armor pen.
He decided that if the Falcon could only shoot snapshots anyways he might as well shoot at a flier. He managed to glance the Stormtalon and take a
hp.
Assault
The 2 Warpspiders jumped in against my Sternguard and managed to kill one I also managed to wound the remaining walker.
End of turn 2

Movement
My Stormtalon broke off to engage the Vyper and the Stomraven stayed on the Falcon. Right side Tactical squad regrouped and positioned themselves with my
CM to return fire against the
DA.
Shooting
Whirlwind shot scattered and did nothing. Dread opened up with his
HF and torched all but 1 gaurdian. Stormtalon blasted the Vyper. And, the Stormraven fired TLMM
TLLC and Stormstrike missles at the Falcon and got nothing.

Assault
Warpspiders killed a third Sternguard and the remaining 2 Sternguard managed to kill the Warwalker (mission complete). The Warpspiders used hit and run to break engagement.
Eldar Turn 3
Still shocked from the my first turn and the fact that my Pred refused to die, my buddy said this would be his last turn.
Movement
Regrouped the remaining gaurdian to man the platform.
Shooting
Shot with his Farseer Spear, Falcon and Lance platform and managed to destroy the Pred.

Then he shot the Sternguard with the Warpspiders all armor saves successful. The same result from his last 2
DA vs my Right side
Tac.
At this point with nothing that could use Skyfire and a severely crippled force my buddy thew in the towel.
This was my first time to be him and my first time using the new codex. In our games before I played as
DA and only had marginal luck when using a
LC Dev squad behind a
ADL with a Icarus
LC and a Libby with Div. 5
LC that reroll misses are nice but still wasn't enough to secure a victory against the mighty
WS. I am happy with the new codex as I feel it fits my style more than
DA. (I could never get good results from Bikes or Termies)
