So I check the mail this morning (excitingly) and got my box containing Blackwater Gulch: Rebels & Reinforcements

First some pictures!

Sweet sweet goodness packed in a box

Everything separated between the gangs and the extras

Tranquility crew , minus the Caption and Adam James

Widowmakers. These models are beautiful! And not just because they are women

The extras. Lots of models in here! 3 of them are from the first KS, which is nice to have some trade fodder.

I forgot to take a picture of my 3rd gang.

Now for some opinions on them:

1) I haven't checked for clearance, but these look like they will fit in the bases without needing to be trimmed for depth, just for length. That said, some of the models appear to be slightly shallow, which will make attaching difficult. Still better than some of the things from KS 1
2) The cards are fantastic. The rounded corners are a lot nicer than the sharp edges of the old cards. I will check for sleeves later while at the FLGS. They appear to be slightly bigger than I remember magic cards being though. (didn't measure though)
3) The models look just as great as KS 1. Didn't notice any problems in the casts, but I only glanced.
4) The dice are sexy. I like these better than KS 1 dice. But both look great

And for some negative

1) Not all the minis were in separate baggies. While this isn't a problem with single piece models... there isn't a lot of those in these. While there were no pieces missing, everything in small baggies was something that was nice to keep things together (and great for uses when assembling other projects to hold pieces)
2) I am missing 2 models, but that is not really a negative, a quick email and that will be solved.
3) Still shipped late, but really, not by much. Really just being nitpicky on this one, because Necros was very upfront on everything, and it went very smooth. If there was a KS3, I would back in a heartbeat, if my lady let me.

Nice Yeah I really like the new cards a lot better. We went with a different printer this time. They're thinner but stronger, they have that nice playing card feel to them

They should get those missing figures out quick.

I have no doubt they will get them out in a very timely manner. Luckily I have to finish the first wave of models that have been staring at me for months. Finally got the tabs sanded down so everything sits flush on a table.

The new cards are great. I love the new art too.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So, the tabs on the widowmakers are still slightly too deep. They are extremely consistent though which is nice.

Is this a design thing to make the models slightly higher than the base so they sit on top of basing materials, or am I making that up in my head?

No I think it was just a miss-measurement when they made the figures. I didn't catch it on the 3D prints, I know they do some minor tweaks when they make the metal molds so maybe some of them had to get extended for the casting. I had to trim the bottoms of my tabs with some clippers. You can just trim right across the bottom of the copyright text and they should be the perfect size. I tried filing at first but I'm too impatient

I will just dremel them like the first batch once I have them everything together and ready to go.

I have to say, I like the Widowmakers. All but one model is once piece, which appeals to the lazy modeller in me that doesn't want to have to pin or glue arms on!

For those that have received their Widowmakers, does Wisteria's right forearm seem a bit scrawny? Can't decide whether its normal or a casting flaw.

TIA

Yes her arm is thin.. it's normal, but something I would have had fixed but I didn't notice it on the 3D prints. I was painting up my copy for the box art photos and noticed it then, too late :( it should be ok though, I filed mine and had no problems with bending or anything. She's a skinny teenager anyway

I keep looking at it thinking it was a bit thin.

I managed to finish everything but the Tranquility crew last night. While I still hate pinning, I am getting better at it! The models all look great.

Got all my minis in

Very nice stuff, and I'll agree the cards are top notch stuff

nice fast delivery to the UK once the shipping actually started

(goodness knows when I'll get round to painting them as I'm drowning in cool minis at the moment, but soon hopefully)

Mine have arrived as well. Happy with everything, and looking forward to putting all of it and the stuff from the first kickstarter together now I have a rulebook and giving the game a go. (I can't stand PDF's... call it a mental block. )

On a side note, please pass on a big thanks to Game Salute Necros, finally a company noted it should be exempt from Customs charges as I was a backer of a project and these are in effect free rewards for the fact I backed the project.

Cool! Yeah we ran into customs issues last time around with a bunch of folks, I'm glad they figured out a work around

Got my missing figures today, with extra bases and cards!

Which is perfectly fine. May use the base for some metal reaper models I have. Space cowboy sheriff from the future perhaps?

Edit: one minor complaint. The Tranquility crew's mounting tab is more just for casting, and doesn't actually go into the base. I have mixed feelings. For one I now have to pin them to a base... but now it is also easy to base them in a different, cooler way, like they are actually on the river boat...

Time to look at bases to buy! (or make my own... oh sweet temptation.)
