So, we had a similar thread to this shortly after the Kickstarter, but since then, a lot of opinions on various models have changed, most noticeably on the Marauders, which a lot of people seem to have done a complete U-turn on, I thought it would be interesting to try this again and see what's changed.

The question is, then, having seen more of the models and rules (and maybe even got some in your hands, you lucky KS-backers), what are people thinking now. What factions are you guys looking forward to playing, painting, creating fluff for or anything else?

For me, I can't wait to get my hands on the Rebs, all the minis look solid and there's a lot more variety there than the other factions. They'll be a blast to paint, and with their missions apparently more focused on scavenging equipment rather than straight-up shootouts, they should be very interesting to play.

I'm also looking forward to the Marauders. I like the more serious style compared to the GW Orks, and the Captain model is one of the best across the whole lot. The Ripper suits also look fun.

So, what are you thinking?

Choice #1 is, was, and will always be the Enforcers. Faction #2 is the Marauders. I liked the look from the beginning, and I like them even more. Very pleased with them. Of course, the best model in all of DZ is the 1st Gen Plague. Good lord, man, he deserves to be the poster boy of Mantic.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It's funny, before I got the boxset I thought that I'd almost certainly be an Enforcer player. But, now they've arrived, while the Enforcers are nice I've done a bit too much 'generic space guy in helmet' style miniatures recently, in-between Infinity stuff and Sedition Wars. Instead, I've been pleasantly surprised by how cool the Plague miniatures are. Really enjoyed painting them, they are going to be my faction of choice (at least until the Forge Fathers arrive! Already got some of their Warpath minis painted up so hopefully should be ready to go with them as soon as the rules arrive )

Do like the character of the Rebs though, and think they lend themselves very well to conversions and proxying - will be interesting to see what people start coming up with after the game has been around for a while!

Rebels for me. I like the variety of the models. Makes for an interesting looking force.

I'm also looking forward to the Forgefathers. I miss Squats.

My favorite faction is the terrain

Failing that, I think I have to put them in a ranking, as I have no clear favorite and want to paint them all

1.) Battlezones
I don't need to explain this one, the third faction is always the battlefield, and it'll be present in every game so I've gotta make it cool and full of character
2.)Rebs/Marauders
I'll need to have models in hand to be sure. I think the marauders still have some zany/wacky/gw-ish qualities in their bomb-dogs and guncrazy ripper suit that the rebs *may* win out. Both of these factions are at this rank because they have, to my mind, more room for story telling. More character and such.
3.)Enforcers/Plague
The faceless enforcers and merciless marauding plague. Perfect choices for the pro/an/tagonists of the game. However both come up a bit dry for story telling. That isn't to say they don't make for great stories, look at how cool the short story in the Mantic blog was today... But I mean enforcers are nameless supersoldiers that always obey their orders and get the job done at any cost, there just seems to be less character. The models are awesome, but i'll have more trouble personalizing them as a campaign wears on, and when they die, I'll only be sad because I'm losing an experienced trooper and not because I've lost a little character I've been developing over the missions like the rebs or marauders. Much of the above fits the plague as well. I think I'll have fun converting mutations for my plague, both to represent mutations and for fun, but in the end they're just bodies in the mass.

So yeah, bad at favorites, but that's why I bought everything

Its been rebs all along for me, well until the for ge fathers come out. Now ive got the minis in my grubby mitts ,im even more impressed .They seem to have changed restic , its much easier to clean up. Also the detail seems much crispsr, of course the real test comes in the painting. Hope you get yours soon grim!

Thanks . I've got 4 more enforcers to work out and a move to initiate and complete so I'm in no great rush.

Reb are at number 1 for me, with Enforcers in 2nd.

Though i have been surprised by how much i like the Mauraders as normally hate ork models with a passion.

1) Marauders (despite dancing sniper)
2) Enforcers
3) Rebs
4) Plague (though I agree with other comments that 1st Gen is the best individual model).

I'm hoping FF will slide in to the #1 spot when they're released and I'm anticipating Asterians could be any where between #2 and #5 depending on how the final models turn out. There's a bit of scope for Enforcers to jump up a place with the strider and the bike release.

Interesting to see the Marauders and Rebs taking a lead here. The Rebs I expected but I'm surpised at how many people love the Orx, given the initial Backlash over them.

I'm looking forward to seeing some more on Wave 2, if they can pull off Hard Plastic Forge Guard I think a lot of people's opinions might sway towards the Dwarves. If they manage to get decent plastic Enforcers, Plague and Foregathers, I see myself buying 3 warpath armies at some point.

What I would really love, though, is a plastic, multi-part Rebs box. Done right, it could be the best kit in the range.

Just wait until they get the plastic perfect enough that everyone is buying Deadzone stuff instead of GW!

That would indeed be awesome. I long for the days when I can use my IG as corporation rather than Corporation as IG. I still love playing 40k, but I wish Warpath had more players. I suppose, with WP KS coming next year, probably retailing in 2015, I have just over a year to hook my gaming group on Deadzone. Looking at the models and rules, that shouldn't be too hard.

I'm really looking forward to the plague the most and have every intention of them being my main faction. Of course, once the dice start rolling, that could change.

I look forward to doing some common mutations for plague. Like razor claws for one of the hounds, acid breath for a 3rd gen, some kind of wings for my second 1st gen (maybe switchable to go on one of the teratons) and so on. That's about all the character I'll be able to inject into the faction though so they still can't be my favorite.

Exactly! I really like the 4 main factions that we've seen models for. The other two factions could be good, but it's impossible to tell from concept art. I like my forgefather dreadball team, but my asterian team I don't find hugely awesome. Do have to second the Rebs and Marauders as being the first among equals too : )

So yeah, they're ALL my factions, and that's why I got 3 strike teams, with 1 free asterian and 2 free forgefathers, and a BOGOF for each faction. They'll all be playable, and they'll all be awesome!

You really need to get out of my head, it's fething uncanny ; p The plague will be perfect for this, with tyranid and chaos bits, and the hose and tentacle maker device for easy green stuff loveliness.

Yep, and it just so happens my tyranids have failed to sell just yet so they will be getting cannibalized just a tad before I put them in the swap shop or eBay.

Ex-cel-lent. Tyranids aren't a faction I play, but I do have a bunch of bits for conversions for my chaos that just may be reassigned to Plague.

Have you seen this thing?

Can do wonderful things like this with a little work.

Can make a nice variety of hoses and tentacles that could spice up plague nicely. I've been meaning to pick one up, but when I tried Russiaforge was in hospital so it fell through and I had to chargeback.

I've seen the tube tool. I haven't had enough need of one yet though. I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting some zombie dragon/new bat thing wings to give to the 1st gen/terrorton for the vestigial wings mutation. Actually those may be a little bit, not sure, and not sure it's worth it for the off chance the mutation comes through either

There was a great bitz seller on ebay a while ago where I nabbed a huge assortment of stuff at very reasonable prices - including some of those zombie dragon bits you mention : ) Thankfully I'm slack and haven't made them into chaos stuff yet, they're gonna be great for plague... I hope. Hard to tell... since we don't have our stuff yet!!!! *shakes fist in mock rage*

I want to have a few intro games to get a feel for it before I decide whether or not to but anyway, but if I do it will definately be the enforcers for me.

Mainly because I want to paint them like Cerberus from Mass Effect.

If they do Forgefathers or Veermyn later I might pick them up.

If it wasn't for how quickly people reported stuff moving through FedEx, I wouldn't believe I was getting it today. 12:30am it's in Tennessee, 2am it's processed, 5:30am it left. It's reported to be here today. Can barely contain my excitement.

Jealous still no ship here. Forge fathers and asterians will probably both be above bottom tier too, ff are along the lines of marauders/rebs for character potential and the asterians are likely gonna have a lot of hard plastic and therefore pose-ability going on.

I split the KS with a few friends. I chose Rebs and Forgefathers and nothing I've seen has made me wish I'd chosen differently.

I like the varried look of the rebs and will also enjoy proxying other minis as rebs.

I love squats and am looking forward to more space-dwarveyness.
