I had the luck to get my greedy hands on the new Giant my local store got as a promo. and since the other guy who normally does this stuff wasn't there at the moment, I "offered" my skills so that they would have a battleready giant in a week.
this was actally 3 weeks ago, but I didn't come to make pics of it until today. I decided to make a more neutral Giant so that I can use him in more armies.




a few more words: it was really fun assembling this guy: the options are endless. unfortunatly the shop owner decided to keep some of the coolest parts like the flat goblin or the fleeing imperial.
I just love this patched trousers, I made them so colourfull it almost looks like my Squigmob.

I know there are alot of mixed fellings with people here on Dakka about the new Giant.  But, for me, I love it.  You did a very good job with it.  I like the painting job you did for it.

After reading the rules for Giants, I'm thinking of making my Giant like he has been stuffing alot of "bad guys" down his drawers.  Just that thought alone just gives me the willies.    I think it would look good if modeled correctly.

Drat. I was hoping that the fabric/pants were seperate from the legs, but your model makes it look like they are not.
That complicates my plans...

In any case - nice paint job on the giant - looks like the only time he bathes is when he gets drunk and falls in a river.

the legs are seperated into two parts, and they're completly covered in pants. btw. the knees are on the inside of the back parts.

Im really liking the new giant, more fuel for my planned night goblin army. This also shows me how it'll look painted by someone with my own level of painting skillz.

Why haven't you primed him white and used inks ?

Is that correct grammar  ?

1. I dont like white priming. it makes me see more painting mistakes and the colors are too bright.
2. when painting models with much skin shown, I never use inks. it makes the skin all shiny and too red. when I paint a model with such a amount of skin I start with scorched brown and drybrush it up to dwarf or bronzed flesh.
btw: I did use Inks. for the belts on the arms and the skull

Yeah, I'm waiting for someone to do a Village People conversion, possibly with a built in MP3 player that sings 'In the Navy' and 'YMCA' .

Seriously though, it looks a very cool model.  My only concern is that it (just like the LOTR Mumakil) looks difficult to repose, which will be a problem for gamers who want several in their army but want them to all look different

he has 2 different arms for each side, but I don't know how to repose him.

Why are his nipples flesh tone?

Spend half an hour putting 1 highlight onto each and every colour on the giant and you'll se a huge improvement.... I guess the drybrushed skin looks okay if he's supposed to look like a homeless guy caked in dirt.

If I'd gotten the giant 3 weeks ago (I was playing around with the sprues 2 months ago but didn't get one) I'd be pouring every ounce of painting skill into it, IMHO the model deserves to be a centrepiece and should be treated as such....

well I could paint the nipples, but besides Inquistor Scale Minatures and stuff I did for a painting contest that's as much work as I put in anything else. about 2-3 layers for every part and about 6 or 7 fot the skin
