This is my first batrep and my first tourney, though I have been playing for 3 years or so now.
So the
LGS was running a 1K tourney to collect toys for children. It was a small event with only 8 participants, but as my first tourney it was pretty fun and relaxed. I brought what I thought was an effective list, since I knew what one of my buddies was bringing (ugh).

Game 1 vs Farsight Tau - Mission = 6 objectives, 3 pts each
Great kid (im old, I can call people kid), very helpful and a joy to play against. He had a Commander with 3 suits as troops (very varied weapon loadouts), 3 more suits as troops (more varied weapon loadouts), 3 Broadsides (Rail guns and
SMS), and a Riptide (HBC/stim/something else).
I went first, only deploying my WK in a ruins,
WS out of sight, and the Riptide w/ Farseer attached on the opposite flank, but as luck would have it he seizes on me.

It's a good thing I long ago learned my lesson and always deploy expecting to be seized on. He had only deployed the Broadsides on my left flank opposite my Riptide and the Commander with 3 suits hidden in the middle. His Broadsides manage to put a couple wounds on my Riptide, but his suits need to move forward because he only has short rage weapons on them (Burst cannons, Fusion, Flamers, and Plasma I think), so their shooting at my WK did nothing.
On my first turn, I cast Guide and Fortune (yay) on the Riptide/Farsser and dropped a pie plate on the Broadsides, insta-gibbing all 3 of them for First blood.
WS and WK shooting wasnt much because he had positioned his Suits behind cover and made good saves. I didnt fire the
WS shield expecting Deepstriking suits to open it up.
2nd turn brought in his Riptide into the middle of board to support his suits, but his other unit of troops scattered off the board and into ongoing reserves. Interceptor fire from my Riptide put a couple wounds on hit Riptide. His shooting focused on my WK and did maybe a wound. On my 2nd, my WK moved forward to get a better view of his suits, the Riptide moving back towards the center of the board to be more effective, and the
WS hang back. The WK shot and then charged the Suits wiping them.
The 3rd turn went quickly as his last suits deepstruck in again but managed to stick the landing next to my
WS, but interceptor fire from the Riptide pie plate splatted two of them before they could do much. In the end, he hit my
WS with a penetrating Fusion shot, but I managed to keep it as a glance with the shield. His Riptide couldnt hurt my T8 WK and ran into a corner on my side of the board. Bottom of 3, my
DA jumped out and wiped the last suit while the rest of my army shot at the hiding Riptide, taking a couple wounds off.
In the 4th, doom was immanent and his Riptides shooting ineffective at the WK closing in on him. My shooting brought him down to a single wound remaining, which I decide to FORGE THE NARRATIVE and assault with my Warlord for a mano e mano fight to the end. Of course the WK squished the puny robot, but here is where my inexperience cost me. That tabled my opponent at the end of turn 4, but I only had troops on one objective. And so I only got points for one objective, Warlord, and First Blood for a total of 5 points.
Game 2 vs
IG - Mission = Big Guns, 6 objectives 3 points each
My opponent was a friend that I play against some. He's been playing for years, but doesnt have much experience w/ 6th Ed. His list consisted of a lot of dudes with 3 heavy weapons behind an
ADL with Quad-gun, some barrage firing tank, a lemun russ with a big cannon-thing, las, and
HB sponsons, a chimera, and a Vendetta.
Again I rolled and got first, deploying similar as last match with WK in a ruins next to my
WS, Riptide and Bikeseer on the left flank, and other troops in reserve. He deploys in a standard gunline behind the
ADL. And again, I get seized on.

He shoots just about everything at my WK chilling in the 2nd floor of a ruins, and doesnt manage a single wound on him. I kind of felt sorry for him, as his dice rolls were horrible, and when he actually did manage a wound, I made all of my saves. On my first turn, I moved aggresively towards his line with my WK on the right and Riptide/Farseer on the left. My opponent made a big mistake in his deployment and placed all of his heavy weapons out front. My shooting from my three units focused on his three units with heavy weapons. Some people diss the Suncannon but even behind the
ADL for a cover save, doing 15+ wounds was enough to wipe a squad. The Riptide dropped his pie plate on another unit killing most of the unit, including the heavy weapon. And the
WS hit enough times to take out the last heavy weapon.
2nd turn, all of his shooting focused on the Riptide/Farseer doing a few wounds to him. I believe his Vendetta came on and tried to shoot at my WK but either missed his shots, or failed to wound. On my turn, all of my reserves came in and hid. I charged his lines with my WK and killed off one unit of troops, but his Commisar was stubborn and stuck around (which was perfect, really). On the left flank, Riptide/Farsser moved closer to his lines, widdling down more Guardsman. As expected, the WK made a smear of the Commisar and consolidated towards the lemun russ.
Turn 3, his remaining shooting did... really, nothing. Maybe a wound on my Riptide. Vendetta flys off (?). My Riptide/Farseer shot then charged the last two small units of guardsman, but they were deplyed in a such a way that I couldnt multi-charge. My WK crushed the leum russ (AV14 front still = AV10 against assault), his 6 attacks making it explode like the 4th of July.
On turn 4, the most amazing thing happened. My Riptide fell to lowly lasgun shot that he was LOSing for the Farsser. I probably shouldnt have, but I dont think I realized he had only a single wound left.

He assaults my remaining Farseer with the last 3 Guardsmen and tie him up. Vendetta comes back on board and manages to put a single glance on my
WS. I know the end is coming and dont want to make the same mistake as last game, and get my troops on points. My Farseer finishes off his last troops and consolidated towards the quad gun behind the
ADL, my bikes turbo boost over to a point behind his
ADL, my
DA run for another point on my table side, and
FW stick on theirs. WK moves and smashes his last tank.
Final turn, the Vendetta goes into hover to try and take out my bikes, taking out one but they barely hold. My WK tries to move then run towards another point but ends up short, while between the Farsser on Quad-gun (is there really anything better than using your enemies Quad gun to hurt their own models?) and the
WS shooting into its rear, the Vendetta falls. Opponent tabled. I have 3 objectives, first blood, warlord, and linebreaker, but in my inexperience I forget (until about 30 minutes ago) that I killed two of his heavies which should have given me two additional points.
Final match, against my buddy playing
CSM - Mission = Scouring, long table.
Out of the group of friends I play with, he has the most experience in tournaments and brings 2 units of
PM with a lord in Rhinos, and 2 Helldrakes. I mean really, what sort of #$%^ brings 2 Helldrakes to a 1K match (hahahaha).
This match went very, very, very fast. He goes first, and kept his 2 troops hidden, out of
LOS, waiting for his chickens to come on. Of course, they both come on 2nd turn and fly up the board. I have my Riptide/Farseer positioned for the best view of firing lanes. Interceptor only takes a
HP off on drake. Turn 3, his flyers move across the rest of the board, one vector strikes my bikes (which of course, a long with my
FW come in 2nd turn), and flame part of my
FW, and the other trys to vector strike my
WS and flame the other side of the
FW. I managed to have them spaced out enough where a few survive along with my Ethereal and they run behind cover. I manage to take another
HP off one of the chickens and they fly off. I re-position for them to come back on but it's too late in the game for me to make a push towards his troops. He has the 4 and 2 pt objectives on his side being baby sat by his troops in rhinos. I only have 2 troops left and a 1, 2, and 3 point on my side (last obj sitting in the middle of the board). On turn 5, the turkeys come back on and I manage to kill the weakened on with interceptor from the Riptide. I drop my
DA off on the 3 pt objective and my
FW stay huddled on the 1 pt (cant make it to the 2 pt). My plan is to turboboost my Farsser up next to my opponents 4 pt objective to win, but I make a rookie mistake and forget to detach him during the movement phase.

BUT my opponent also makes a HUGE mistake, and forgets to disembark his troops on the points! We roll to see if the game ends... it does not!
Turn 6, my opponent realizes his mistake (probably from my cursing) and disembarks. Chicken flys over my Riptide/Farseer with an ineffective vector strike, but flames two
FW that he can see (I had them behind a ruin on multiple levels so they couldnt be all wiped by the baleflamer). Of the two hit, 1 survives and the unit holds! My Farseer detaches, Riptide gets a lucky Fusion shot up the turkeys butt exploding it, and Farseer boosts up to contest his 4pt objective. If the game ends, I would win! It... does not!
Last turn, his unit with his lord cant move enough to go around the ruins (my plan) but he makes enough to go UP a level, through a doorway, and see the top of my Farseer's head to assault them. In a challenge, the Black Mace lord only takes 2 wounds off my Farseer. My Riptide continues to move up, nova charging for extra thrust move needing to contest the 4pt in case the Farseer falls. My WK moves up on the Farseers left but is about a half inch short of being able to contest the objective. In assault, I charge the WK into the combat for the hell of it. In the challenge, I cast... DEATH MISSION (I rolled it twice, I guess it was meant to be) and I think I might have wounded the lord, but he then finishes me off.

But the Riptide can still save the day with an average
4d6 boost over the combat and wall to make it to the objective, and falls a couple inches short!

In the rest of the assault, the WK squishes a few plague marines and they arent able to do anything back. Games over....
As we are clearing up, I realize that since my WK was originally only a half inch short of the objective (because his
PM were surrounding my Farseer and I had to remain an inch away), when I assaulted I would have been close enough to contest! Grrrr. I talk to my friend and we agree to just man-hug and call it a tie.
In conclusion, I also realized just a short time ago that I didnt include the 2 extra
VP on the last match for killing the two Hellturkeys, but that's what I get for inexperience.
lol What matters is that I had a lot of fun, and now can understand why those of you that go to a lot of tourneys, have so much fun with them. I do apologize for no pictures, I was so excited that I forgot. And now a couple days later, my memory is a little hazy. For those of you like me, that read these boards for fun but dont really do tourneys, I would highly recommend it!
Thanks all!
