I disagree.  Does huffing glue count as drunk?

Swamp them and hope for a win during one of the rounds. Then they will have to take extra wounds for being fearless. If you do this be sure to charge them not the other way around.  Or create a tar pit with your own fearless units. I prefer Conscripts led by a commissar(not fearless but close) , but this will be different depending on your army. If the DC has no Pfists or melta bombs a Dreadnought will create the perfect tarpit. As a Blood Angel player I can tell you, it's pretty frustrating when an army can either outpace me or tie me up. Then pick on all of my actual scoring units.

hit them with a unit with tons of weapons that ignore armor saves...or charge them before they charge you...or blast them with loads of Str 8 or higher weapons. Death Co. aren't unbeatable Capt K

Have a wraithlord wade in after mind warring the powerfists?

Genestealers and a couple of TMCs?

Three chaplains of your own? (what's the math on that if you pull off the charge? Hmmm 18 attacks, 16 hits, ~10 dead if you have furious charge).

But my personal favorit is just letting them eat a unit then shooting the snot out of them.

Haha. Maybe I should repeat myself "hand to hand combat". So, yea. Telling me how you are going to shoot the piss out of them is irrelevant.

Well actually he said snot, piss was never mentioned.

It's actually a relevant tactic, you said hand to hand, and he suggested you let them beat a unit in Hand to Hand combat then shoot them. Chances are if you're playing an army in 40K you have at least 1 unit in your army that has some shooting ability.

I like the bogging down idea, ripper swarms, nurglings, scarabs, anything to tie them down with works pretty well, atleast well enough to take them out of the game 2 or 3 turns.

Spawn. Lots of spawn. And battle cannons...mmm...battle cannons...

And like everything else, lots of assault cannons.

No offense, but this is such a silly thread. I'm glad you all have fun replying to it (and some of the replies are funny!), but seriously, what kind of thread is this?

If the OP was looking for advice on dealing with the death co., shooting it is one. But obviously not, he couldn't care less about advice, since avoiding CC with the death co. and shooting it is good advice but he don't want to hear about it...

It's like asking, how to beat a daemon prince or greater daemon in h+h. Just... go in there and beat it! Just like with the death co., throw enough warm bodies at them, roll bucket-loads of dice and the death co. will die. It may take 1000 guardsmen to do it, but hey, you never mentioned restrictions...

Hmm... maybe I should start a new thread, "how to beat devastators by shooting at them", even if the answer is an obvious "just go and SHOOT them, 'nuff said".

Charge them with a unit of damonettes. Striking first, rending, its all good. Damonettes don't care about their powerfists or power weapons. Failing that, charge them with my Slanneshi DP Monsterious creature, WS 6, S6, 3+/5+ save, T5 so no insta-killing and three wounds isn't all bad.

Also its easy for chaos deamons to get charges against DC, summoning works very well. Doesn't matter if the DC has jump packs or not, and DPs with D-speed have a better charge range.

Get drunk and puke on the death company, that always defeats them when I play.

P.S. - It helps if you eat cottage cheese first, the chunks help keep them bogged down.

Winged hive tyrant hits a flank.

Managed to down 8 DC members in 2 assualt phases with only the chaplain attacking back in the 2nd....doing nothing.

Anything larger though and you need a squad to tie up the other flank.

@ geekinthehouse:
The math is like 'Ignore pain' = twice the saves needed to kill one. DC has 3+ armor. Means 1/6 of the wounds you inflict get through. wounding at 5+, it makes every 18th hit in cc kill one DeathCompanist. Hitting on 4+, 36 attacks are needed. Two attacks per model on the charge means only about 180 Guardsmen with close formation drill to drown an average 10 man DC Squad. Add some Guardsmen for the priest, but you are still at maybe 250 Guardsmen, not 1000, if you could take that many recruits (fighting as well in cc) to drown the whole DC in a single turn of CC, and you wont even loose many of your men in return. For a mere 1k points (talking recruits), that's a blast! :-)

@khorneflakes

Wow, I was just throwing out a number for the heck of it, never expected you to count out the actual number required!

But then again, if we're playing guard, why charge the DC? Blast it to kingdom come before it even comes near the lines!
