yea, that piece had my puzzled for a couple minutes at first also

its a door, it has a slit at the top and fits into the door frame

That's the part you use as the front of the spaceship. The square piece goes behind the neck and the two rectangles end up perpendicular on the edges, TIE fighter-style. Then the two triangle bits become the top detail and you cut up the sprue to make engine exhausts or drive pylons. If you send me a sprue, I'll show you what I'm talking about.
