For anyone who's a fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, or even possibly the HBO Game of Thrones TV show (though the figures are sculpted based on GRRM's vision, not the actors in the series):
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/823962857/dark-sword-miniatures-grrm-masterworks-major-line

From the Kickstarter page:
Dark Sword has been producing the critically acclaimed George R.R. Martin Masterworks range of tabletop gaming scale pewter miniatures at a very measured pace over the past 6+ years. About a miniature a month is what it has broken down to. These miniatures are created working closely with George himself from how he envisioned the characters from the books in his mind - they are not from the HBO series. George personally approves every single sculpt as he is an avid miniature collector (his personal collection is beyond epic) and has quite the eye for what he wants in this line. With your backing and support on this project, we would like to increase this pace and come out with a very large expansion of new miniatures in one unified release for the range in early 2014.

The legendary Tom Meier (from Ral Partha fame) has sculpted up this truly exceptional expansion set of miniatures. Tom Meier has been a Dark Sword team member since 2004 and is the lead sculptor on the GRRM Masterworks range.

For the most recent stretch goal freebies:

My own comments:
On the expensive side at $160-180 for the buy-in but I've always been impressed with the Dark Sword minis I have in my collection. However, the freebies put it at over $300 in value now.

A number of free additions have already been added to the core pledge, along with a couple add-ons that cost extra for existing Dark Sword figures.

The entirety of the stretches, add-ons, and core content are posted below. It's a big pic so spoilered:

I'll start this by saying DSM's minis are fantastic.

But they are also so damn generic. Nothing really makes me go 'Oh yeah, that's from Game of Thrones!'.. But I don't think even having the HBO license would help that.

I really hate that Joffrey sculpt, his face looks too old for the character.

I agreement. My least favourite from the crew. But the Scribe of Westeros (supposed to be GRRM himself) is fantastic.

Updated with a new stretch goal. I don't mind the generic nature of these since I find, for me, that they tend to be rather historical and true-scale that could fill in for any medieval miniature, which is almost impossible to find.

FYI, there's a Dire Wolf add-on and a Furries add-on coming this weekend.

Are these still about 32mm or so tall? I looked at getting some before but they were too big to match Perry stuff. :(

They say 28mm but the figures are true proportion so they end up rather larger.

Someone posted a link to this in the kickstarter comments a while back.

I just went over and had a look at this. The minis are good but it doesn't look to be the most accessible kickstarter.

It's the sort of thing, though that in a couple of years time when they're released I might back an individual mini or two for painting to add to any large orders I'm doing for other games systems.

If you have any questions I'll try to answer.

As for accessibility it's the most straightforward kickstarter I've ever been in. You pay $160-$180 for the only one pledge level available in the kickstarter (unless you want to contribute $2). The different $160, $161, $162, $163 and $180 pledges are all for the exact same stuff. No difference other than that some are earlybirds.

Check out the graphic below. The pledge is up to about 21-22 miniatures now, which represents roughly half of the graphic. The other half of the graphic, beginning at where it says +$15 add-on, is where you can add extra stuff to your pledge. There's no requirement to do so though. Pledging for the $160-$180 levels is all that's required.

That's not exactly what I meant.

I mean, considering I'm in the UK. It's basically, spend £125 on the models, or spend nothing.

Ah. Well can't help you there. I'm international as well. If it makes any difference it's still down to less than $10 a mini with 2 of them mounted.

The add-ons are better value though, and when you roll all those into the same shipping price the postage starts to not look so bad.

Jim at Dark Sword Miniatures also said he's willing to add regular products to the shipment if we later email him with our supplemental order. Again, the shipping will stay the same.

So that $25 postage might payoff big depending how far you want to go. I've always been impressed with DSM's minis and this seems like a golden opportunity for some.

DarkSword has some awesome miniatures, but my opinion sadly the GRRM line is not among them.

Last stretch-goal by the looks of it, sculpted by Kev White.

From the update:

Next up we have a special stretch goal to unlock. This is for an optional add-on pack of two Sword Brothers of the Nights Watch sculpts – with a twist. Kev White and Tre Manor are big GRRM Westeros fans. And they are great guys/talented sculptors as well.We have been online friends for a number of years and also offline friends when we can hang out in person at conventions like ReaperCon (Best Miniature Convention EVER!) and Gen Con. I approached Kev last year about sculpting himself and Tre up as Nights Watch members and he loved the idea as he and Tre are good buddies and they always struck me as this “Dynamic Duo” in real life that could team up and walk the earth together while getting into all sorts of misadventures.

So with that I present to you - Kev and Tre as Nights Watch Brothers. These are essentially tribute pieces and Tre/Kev will NOT be making an appearance in the book series (so no rumors please). They will fit right in with the Tom Meier Sword Brothers – but they are not modular miniatures. And the timing was perfect on Kev getting time to work on these pieces as you can now unlock them and add them to your rewards for this project for a special backer price of $18 for their two-pack. If you would like to add these miniatures to your backer shipment, just increase your pledge amount by $18 for each set you want to add (but keep your backer reward selection !) and when I send out our survey after this project comes to a close, folks can let me know what optional add-ons they selected and pledged.
