This is the color scheme I'm thinking of doing with my Kroot Mercenary army. I'm interested to know what you think... Every model would have the blue body paint, in some form or fashion, either as face paint or war stripes or tattoos or something. I think I'm going to delineate squads by the stripe color on their shoulder pads. Comments? Suggestions? Thoughts about basing (I'm still struggling over how I want to base this army.)?

It looks really nice. But how long did it take you? I spent a good deal of time painting on the different skin tones on my first Kroot model, but then realized that I would never finish a whole army that way, and switched to drybrushing. You said 162 models? Ouch, good luck. - Oaka

A couple of hours. But that was because I had to sit there and wait between color applications for it to dry before moving on to the next area. If I can line up ten guys at a time, I don't have to rest between colors; by the time I finish #10, #1 is dry and I can move to the next step.
I'm going to batch paint 5 guys in this scheme and see how long it takes me. If it becomes a nightmare, like you said, I may have to rethink...

Wow, that was my first thought also. Well, actually, my first thought was wondering where his claymore was... but you get the idea. I'd recommend using face paint of some OTHER color. Other than that, it's all good. If you're not averse to "cheating" in painting... you might try dipping a squad to see how it turns out. It would make painting those 160+ models MUCH faster/easier.

When the first pic loaded, my thought was what the hell is with the bright blue head? Then I scrolled down and saw it was just face paint, and thought it rather cooler after that. And I rather like the degree of the highlighting. Gives is a kind of molted loot.
And yes, if you're going to do an army with that kind of face paint, you need to have a shaper somewhere with a giant two-handed sword.
