Do IG infiltrators deploy as "platoons" and/or force org chart selections, or individual squads?

While wargaming scenarios for my 2000 point mostly infiltrating IG list, I thought about an Alpha Legion list I read on the forums that was entirely infiltrating.  It seemd to me that if I deployed a few squads in my zone during regular setup, and then won the roll for infiltrators, I could deploy a large platoon of infiltrators and block the board off so my opponent couldn't deploy.  Sound reasonable, or am I missing something?

You're missing two things: 1. Your cunnin scheme would only work against an all-infiltrating list. 2. Once! I've heard people discuss all-inf lists, but never seen one actually played. The whole idea's silly for the very reason you pointed out. So, in theory, it's possible. In practice, the smart money's on 'never gonna happen'. Playa

So because you've never seen it, no one's ever going to take an all-infiltrating list? Hmm, how does hell no sound. Ive seen loads of all infiltrating lists, including my own Alpha Legion - its such a good deal in GT missions where there is no alpha level. Plus you don't have to infiltrate so you can also deploy an anti-infiltrate pushback unit to stop the army being out-infiltrated.

Not sure on the actual question though.

Back in I believe it was February, at Danger Planet, during a tourney ...
- A game with reserves: Speed Freaks vs. an all infiltrating Chaos list. Chaos got to go first. Technically Chaos could have won the game right there. It was measured out, he could have deployed to prevent the Orks from entering the board on any of his table edges.

Being a good sport about it, he didn't.

couldn't you move on and use tank shock in the same turn? If course the player would need either battlewagons, looted vehicles or stikk bom chukkas.
