So the Kickstarter campaign is off to a good start. After we fund and move on to stretch goals, I was planning to unlock the next race at the $30,000 point do a new race mech every 10k. Right now I have it set for the Martian Light Mechs, medium mechs will come at 40k, heavies at 50k, and so on. A bunch of folks in the comments are already saying the really like the Bionics.. So, I'm thinking maybe I should shuffle them up. So why not make a poll? Which race would you like to see unlocked next? Martians, Aphid or Bionics? Here's the concept art:

I really do like the Bionics and the range of terrain they have.
GFG mentioned on the KS comments page that they would love to do a 15mm style cities of death set which I would love to get but it all depends on how well the project funds to whether that could happen.

This game has a lot of potential and scope... will be watching this very closely.

Wayne sent me a sketch for a new Aphid mech idea he had. This would be more bipedal and a different direction, but more chitinous armor plates rather than steel. I like it, but I'm actually thinking this might be better for a whole new race.. or as a free agent? What do you guys think?

I cast my vote for Martians.

The Martiams appear to have to best visual similarity between light, medium, and heavy. The other races look more like a jumbled mish-mash of different styles.

I like the new Aphid sketch better than the light Aphid mech you have now. It has more of a "drone" look about it. The backwards knee might be a good visual cue for the Aphid race, similar to the "tripod" of the Martians? Of course, being bipedal will take away some of the inhumanness of the Aphids.

I agree on the Martians, which is why I voted for them.

Also, just a note: digitigrade legs(like those on the new walker sketch) don't have "backwards knees", those are the ankles. The first joint is the knee.

This is what a backwards knee would actually look like:

Or this(for something more appropriate for Aphids):

Thank you for the correction. I believe I prefer the ankle to the backwards knee.

Interesting. I actually found myself wishing for more variety from the bionics. I love the bionic light with the whole worm thing going on. I'd love to see the medium go a little more snakelike, like a cobra, and the heavy posed more like an octopus. I also enjoy the martians, and as far as the aphids go I find both light concepts to be more to my liking than either the medium or heavy.

I have Wayne doing some new Aphid sketches, more along the lines of the new one, so their mechs will be more upright like the terrans, just bug looking. I've been picturing the race looking a lot like the Prawns from Disctrict 9.

Anyway, I'd still be keeping the current art. Most of the art I get that doesn't end up as a race's sculpt will end up being used for a Free Agent mech.
