I am adding the finishing converting touch to my 1850 pt SM list.  Now I have to deside if 2 dreads with drop pods is better or worse than a 5 man termie with 2 assualt cannons with tank hunter skill.

Do you already have some Tank Hunting Termies? If not, you'd be wise to add them so you have some bonus firepower against AV12 skimmers.

If you already do have a squad or 2 of Tank Hunting Termies, take the Dreads.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Well, you do get a bunch more bodies with an invulnerable saving throw with terminators. So I would say use the termies.

Though if you were looking for reach, I would reccommend 2 dreads w/ AC and ML.

2 dreads is better imho, unless you have at least 3 squads of termies. Also I'm thinking the termies will fare much, much better in an apothecary style shootie list.

Really depends on the rest of your army.

A friend just introduced me to the Apothecary+Termies config and MAN do people get annoyed

Opponent: "Yes, you failed a saving throw"
Me: "Apothecary saves the wound"
Opponent bangs head on table

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

Dirty.

Can the Apothecary save his own wound? If not, perhaps torrent of fire might be an approach to such beardiness...of course, you'd need to be able to reliably cause 5+ wounds on a unit, and it would take 6 of those volleys to take out one Termie apothecary...yech. Or 2 volleys of 5+ wounds with AP2 weapons.

Time to dust off the old Drop Trooper Plasma Command Squad...and possibly the good ol' AP2 Demo Charges...

If the Apoth can save his own wound, then this all becomes moot of course

I did not know it was legal to add an apothecary to a terminator command squad. I thought that option was only available to a command squad in power armor. Did I miss something? I hope I did because that combo sounds very effective.

You cannot add it to a termie command squad, but there are other options.... Read the narthecium reductor entry. Quite nasty if used in phalanx.
