Mission:Relic
Deployment: Hammer/Anvil

My Army:
-Knight Paladin
-Ordo Malleus Inq (GK rules) Power armor, power sword, combi melta
-Eversor Assassin
--1 DreadKnight, Sword, Incinerator, couldn't afford Teleporter.
-2 5 Man squads with psycannons and halbards

His list (unsure exact details:
-Flyrant
-Tervigon
-a couple squads Hormies
-a couple squads tervies with devourers...

Opponent wins the toss.

Mindset: I have barely any models on the board at 1000, and he fleshed out a pretty big army of henchmen. Switch from "Capture the Relic" to "Relic denial". Paladin stuck way in the back so it's not affected by 1 Eye Open. Swamp between me and objective, so I put a squad on each side, attach my throw-away HQ to one.


Turn 1: Broad daylight. Fail my initiative role.
Horde runs forward, but can't get in range with the 18" guns, strategic positioning behind cover. Flyrant is in the air. Limited Flyrant shooting to no real effect.
My turn, move the DreadK into the swamp, with plenty of range to put the fire torrent anywhere around relic. Move the two squads to near enough to flank relic. Roast just a handful of Hormies with DreadK. Proceed to wipe an entire small Hormie squad with Paladin from across the map.

Turn 2: Opponent forgets to spawn Termies. Horde moves out into the open quick. Devour's almost wipe my left GK squad. Right(With my HQ) is out of range. Random shooting puts a wound on my lonely Dread. Flyrant finishes off Left squad with range. No assault.
My turn: FACEPALM for forgetting to place the Eversor. Roll a 5 and start the painful footslog to help the Right side squad. Proceed to blast the hell out of Termies on Left side with Paladin. Scatter nearly wipes two of their squads. Enforced by flame Torrents from DreadK. No Assaults.

Turn 3: Heres where the fun begins. Since a lot of my opponents models are unbuilt, I realize that it's almost all all Hormies on the right side, Termies on the left. Termies fall out of synapse, hide in a building. Flyrant puts another wound on my Dread. Hormies charge into right squad, killing 2. The rest stand their ground and I tie combat.
At this point, the relic is surrounded by nids, so a few Paladin shots and a torrent later, and it's all clear. Eversor is ALMOSt in reach to save the melee on the right. I start putting wounds on Tervigon with lucky scatters. Not a single GK was lost on my round of melee. I've also started moving my Paladin up toward the relic.

Turn 4
Dreadknight dies, but that's okay, the opponent ran out of free Left Nids to pick it up. A full squad of Hormies joins the Right Melee, nearly wiping the rest of my squad. Just a justicar and HQ left. Eversor jumps into melee, completely wipes the weakened squad of hormies. my HQ and justicar die leaving the asssassin alone.

Turn 5: another Hormie squad joins the melee. Eversor is UNSTOPPABLE!!!! flyrant runs from paladin, Tervigon almost dies, no one gets the relic, and the game ends.

Results:
Slay the Warlord: Him
First Blood: me
Final score: After 3 hours of vicious battle, 1-1 draw.
