Hey all,

I?ve been kicking around an idea for a Tyranid colour scheme for a while now and I?ve decided on an old school Genestealer look. The problem is I?m not very familiar with blue and I?ve never worked with pink and purple on a large scale.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> Basically the carapace is going to be a dark blue with a blue grey mix highlight and the flesh will be dark purple highlighted up to some kind of pastel pink, probably with grey mixed in too.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> What I need to know is what colours would you recommend and what to do about transparency problems with the pinks and purples. Also please recommend citadel colours, as these are what I like to work with.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--> Thanks for the help

Mh, grey/blue is not the best Idiea you only have codex grey as darkest grey and it is still very light.
I would use a white basecoat
Midnight Blue (base) -> Regal Blue (drybrush) -> Enchanted Blue (highlights) maybe blue ink also.
Liche Purple-Base> Warlock Purple (highlights) -> Magenta Ink (gives the whole a more red tone)
Tentacle Pink would also work as highlight but it looks better in a 50/50 mix with warlock purple

Tanx Joe,
I will be using Black primer though as I prefer the finishes I can achieve using it. Also I tried Midnight Blue as a base and found it looked purple and too dark. As to the Magenta I want to avoid a red tint to the pink.

But it's a good start thanks again...

Okay,
last night I worked out a purple finish I'm happy with but the blue is still giving me hell. The purple is just liche purple highlighted by adding fortress grey and it looks exactly like I wanted it. I'm using regal blue as the base for the armour but when I tryed adding fortress to that it came out like a slightly darker ice blue. I want a more muted pastel blue though, I think it's called cobalt.

Need help please
