hey all,

many years ago (10ish?) i remember reading a battle report where this dwarf army was storming the castle and all of the dwarf army got blown away except this one dwarf who went on to make every save and/or be unwounded by every shot until he either took the castle or routed most of the defending army before dying.

does this sound familiar to anyone? or was i just high and/or dreaming?

No idea! It must be more recent than I thought it would be as I don't remember it in my collection.

But whilst we're on the topic does anyone remember which issue it was that had all the heroes of the old world go toe to toe in 1v1 matches until only 1 was left? IIRC I think Croak won? This is probably an article from 10yrs ago or so now...

Also, sorry for hijacking the thread!

@ John Rainbow: Can't remember which issue it was, but it was actually the Bloodthirster that won! It was supposed to be the best special character from each book, with the 'thirster thrown in as a wild card (probably cos they had an odd amount).
As for the dwarfs, that's not ringing any bells at all I'm afraid!

That contest was waaaaaaay back in 5th edition though, when Bloodthirsters were pretty much the be-all-end-all of CC monsters, excepting possibly custom-made Runelords (who had better stats than Chaos and Vampire Lords do now IIRC) with -2+ rerollable saves and S10 runeweapons which caused D6 wounds per failed save and other silly things?

I do remember a siege battle report with Dwarfs, but there were a bunch more dwarfs surviving outside the castle. The Lord was the only one who survived a hellblaster volley after his unit had finally made it into the Castle courtyard IIRC on the last turn of the game

I remember one with them fighting skaven and protecting a tower and I think the dwarves won because they still held the tower though they were totally outnumbered, it might have been a character holding it or something.
