So as a new years resolution I challenged myself to paint one squad per month since I have a *LOT* of minis to paint. Focusing on my Eldar, I decided to paint my warp spiders first. These are very old metal models, in rather poor condition. Lots of surface imperfections and damage from wear and tear. Nontheless, I threw some paint on them keeping in mind I'd most likely end up replacing them if ever a plastic warp spider box was released. So here's January!

Now why would you go replacing these teleporting arachnids? I think that they're pretty radical. The webs on their back plates are a really nice touch, too.

Thanks for the kind words! The models themselves have quite a few small spots where they are damaged, or have casting imperfections because they're so old. Besides that they are *very* top heavy. I'd have to fill the bases with lead to make these guys stable, haha. Sometimes they fall over on flat surfaces! They've got a few coats of matte varnish though, so the paint should be fairly well protected!

So for February I gave my new airbrush a go. Ran into all sorts of complications (as I expected to, being a new airbrush user) but learned a lot from the experience! Anyways, I still have quite a bit of cleanup to do on these guys, but since February is done they'll have to wait! Their weapon options are all magnetized and ready to swap when needed.

I think I'll do my Vaul's Wrath Support Batteries for March. See you in a month!

Love the Warp Spiders, did you aim to get a Spider-Man look or was that a happy coincidence?

totally a happy coincidence. I try to use the aspect colours as much as possible, and just work my army colours (orange/blue) into them where I can. in the case of the warp spiders it was giving them blue guns and orange tassles. So their red/white aspect colours paired with the blue guns ended up making them into spiderman. Totally fine with it though, haha.

Did a Warlock Conclave for May. The lighter blue warlock isn't my handywork, I picked him up a while ago on eBay. He's just there since he's part of the unit.

Hey guys! I haven't posted here in over a year (wow!) but don't worry! I've still been painting, albeit slowly. Work has gotten unexpectedly busy, so I've slowed quite a bit. Anywho, here are some pics to get you guys caught up!

Fire Dragons

Wave Serpent

Farseer

The Farseer turned out a little "goopier" looking than I had hoped because I have a LOT of paint on him from experimenting with various colours. Luckily, I've got 4 or 5 more Farseers to paint, so the next few should be cleaner.

Very nice looking Eldar, I like them a lot. Your airbrush skills are very nice too, that Wave serpent is a real standout for me. I especially love the gems on it, top notch. Keep up the great work, would always love to see more.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm still fairly new to airbrushing, but I'm slowly improving with each unit! And I'm with you, Elbows, that model and the similar one with two swords are my favorite Farseers I've got one of those lying around as well, so expect to see him at some point too!

Does the spear guy with the fingers have a particular name? I've occasionally looked on ebay for one and haven't found one.

The blending on the Wave serpent is looking quite good, and that farseer seems quite the baller. Granted, that model has always looked baller to me...
Keep it up compadre!

So I entered a converting/painting competition at the local GW and ended up winning! I turned Y'vraine into Rapunzel and Pascal from Tangled. Excuse the little grass bits. I didn't notice them before taking the pics. There's a LOT of grass on her base haha.

As my first attempt at weathering and gearing up for painting my Ork Army, I decided to scratch build a Waaagh Tower. It opens up to to reveal some Goff Rockers and a Bluetooth Speaker so I can play some suitably Orky jams during battle, or when I call a Waaagh!

The weathering on your ork tower looks good. So many people go waaaayyyyyy too far with ork stuff to the point where it’s just a brown crusty mess and looks like it was only recently unearthed after centuries buried in mud.

Thanks for the comments! Rapunzel was an absolute blast to do, and it really helped me work on my cloth painting, which has always been a weak area for me. I am fairly happy with the ork tower, but I learned a LOT about what not to do while scratch building, and the importance of planning! The weathering was actually a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it, and I can absolutely see how it's so easy to go overboard. With such quick results, it's so easy to just keep going because it feels like progress!
