Out of all the movies coming out this year, this is probably the one I am most excited about. Partially it's because I legitimately want to see it, and partially because this is a pretty weak year at the movies, looking forward. Yeah, a few gems, but mostly clunkers.

Hmm.. tough one, I'm a huge fan of Pratt, generally have liked all the Jurassic films, but something feels off in this one.
Feels a bit jumping the shark .. eating the shark? ..with the plot, but I suppose we'll finally get to see what happens when dino's run rampant with a Disney world sized attendance crowd.. so that might be fun.
Will skip a cinema release though, too expensive for something giving me that many doubts.

This film is a watch once. The lake gaiju, super-rex, dumb corp cliche, training raptors, soldier victims, quite a list of hot mess.
I can sniff this one is going to be a plothole fest, especially once a dino starts beating a well armed military or paramilitary force.
With Aliens there was a hidden advantage to the monsters and even then the human commander had to have a tactical nerf to bsalance the books. I can imagine the levels of dumb the humans with guns will have forced on them by the plot to give super-rex a chance of a win.
If the military gets involved it would be easy, as soon as you know infantry get eaten send in helicopter gunships, or an AFV. Some light tanks are airdroppable and a 30mm cannon will mess up any monster it sees, and the armour will take it's knocks.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Indeed. Dinosaurs aren't dragons with impenetrable hides.
We'd have no problems taking dinosaurs down with some of our larger caliber weaponry.

I think it looks awesome. I can't wait. And it's nice Pratt says what all of us have said; there are dinosaurs! What more of a wow factor do you need? At least the "issue" with a genetically created one was discussed and reason given. Cool. I'm ready to enjoy this puppy. You guys can all wait til dvd, but I'll be there at the theater.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah, with meangreenstompa on this. I will enjoy this the same way I enjoyed Pacific Rim. Giant robots fighting monsters? Hell yes. Dinosaurs murdering people? Hell yes. Seriously, the mosasaur alone is enough for me to go watch it.

And...people still actually go to Jurassic Park?!?
This one looks to be Dumb Fun at most, and at the bottom of the list in terms of "Movies I'm Excited to See In Theater This Year".
But it is still on the list!

The problem with this is that the first movie was movie monsters + up-to-date-science (the general public's first real hint that the dinosaur renaissance was a thing, twenty-four years after it started) + groundbreaking effects + whatever of his usual 'magic' Spielberg could wring out of the thing. Now, Spielberg left after the first movie; we've been bombarded with CGI for over twenty years, to the point there's a minor backlash against it; and Colin Treverrow has gone on record, performing a one-fingered salute to the idea that palaeontology didn't stop in 1993. That just leaves us with movie monsters, which places Jurassic Park 4 about on par with Critters 4 or Leprechaun 6.
