This update features photos of the physical plastic sprues for lots of our models, so you can start planning out your build options and choices. The Drones and Angel Minnows are not at production quality yet, but the parts and layout are done - the final sprues for them will be a touch sharper, so as great as they look here, they will only get better!

Epirian Drone Sprue (builds both types - ground and air)

So these are never going to be available for retail?

They will be available for retail some day, but the kickstarter comes first, then probably the boxed set at retail before individual units and sprues are made available on their own. We want to be certain our logistics and packaging is completely sorted before investing in unit/sprue specific boxed sets so it would be a staggered release in that order over an unspecified time span.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I was thinking about the Karist angel while I was away out of town, and juast remembered.

Why not make the angle or models like that out of resin. Not necessarily these ones but others. The idea is to use the sort of resin you can heat in water and straighten or repose.

Angels are amorphic creatures yet appear very symmetrical, and in the case of plastic kits the same. As the limbs are pseudopods they should appear more amophic, and what better way to do that than to repose them on the base.

You could get away with selling resin limbs for angels that gamers can heat and repose as they see fit. It would look great if there is terrain as the angel can adapt to it.

Angels are one of the most interesting concepts in your novels, but the minis themselves are unnecessarily boring.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

You can melt and heat plastic, too. You simply have to use a hotter flame instead of boiled water.

Disclaimer: One of my first model conversions involved the application of a lighter flame to a space marine arm in the early 90's.

Great to hear

The numbers on the sprue are just there so that we can reference them from instructions - eg; we could say use door '9' when building a certain style building.

Happy building and please do share some pictures when you start assembly!

I may be being dense here but I clicked through the "back us on kickstarter" link and could not actually find where/how to back the project. I am assuming this is some sort of late pledge option as the project was funded months ago.

Hi Thraxas, yes the kickstarter is long finished, but if you go to: http://www.maelstromsedge.com/medge/pledgemanager.jsp then you can get in on the pre-orders, including the next wave of terrain deliveries which will be shipped in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the interest!

When you visit http://www.maelstromsedge.com/medge/pledgemanager.jsp you will have to register and sign in to maelstromsedge.com first, so that orders can be tied to your account there.

Finally got my hands on my terrain sprues today... I say finally because I had them posted to my work as I'm usually there, then had a long weekend off!

I have to say I am all kinds of impressed. Straight away you can see and feel the quality and on closer inspection they are so clean and the material feels like it's going to be great to work with.

For such a new company to produce GW level quality is nothing short of phenomenal. I'm tempted to send pics to the likes of PP and Wyrd! So glad I backed this.

Right, now the fan boy kiss ass excitement is over I shall go see what boxes I can rob off the wife!

Cheers guys!

Thanks, very nice to hear

Wait until you see the model sprues in the flesh and I think you'll be even more impressed with the detail and crispness on them. The terrain has marginally softer detail than the models to reflect the size of the tool we had to use for that one, and as you've seen it is pretty decent!

My novels have been listed in transit for days...maybe years. Feels like years.

Anyway, I hope the models are still on track to arrive while the stories are fresh in my mind.

Awesome! Can't wait to get my mitts on them. Still not sure what colour scheme I'm doing yet though!

For some parts of the US, shipping time can be up to 2-3 weeks. You'll have to make sure you read nice and slowly

I'm quite keen to do this and repose one of my Angels, but have never attempted it. Do you have any advice? I don't want to damage the model or inhale poisonous fumes, of course.

My advice is not to hold the mini less than an inch away from a stove on medium heat, unless you are trying to convert a T-1,000. In that case, do hold the mini too close to the burner.

Books just arrived! Finishing Dread Empire's Fal, and the straight into MEdge.

The best advice I can offer is to practice on the left over sprues that you have after you clip the parts off. I think I'd be tempted to use a cigarette lighter before I'd try using a stove top burner, though. Either way, you're probably going to want to ensure that you're in a well ventilated room.
