I know the Imperial Guard is so diverse that rank identification--stripes, pips, stars, etc...are difficult---yet it is the Imperium and even though many regiments differ uniform wise I would think some semblance of rank identification would exist. Has any one ever run across this in an article?
The Imperial Navy--you would think--would be more uniform...but I have not seen any rank identification (specific to a rank) any where. Is anyone aware if such a thing as rank identification (meaning of course a symbol of something that denotes rank) exists anywhere here as well?

The only one I know of is the Commissar's hat (and possibly storm coat).

Edit: that said, IA8 has a doublle-page spread on Elysian rank insignia and markings.

There are some illustrations of imperial navy crew/officers in Jes Goodwin's "the gothic and the eldritch" book.

Helmet < No helmet < Hat < Pauldron + Helmet < Just pauldron < Pauldron + Hat < Huge hat < Huge pauldrons < Huge pauldrons + Huge hat

This pattern probably holds true for the Imperial Navy also.

I have seen the naval pictures---just wasn't sure if they showed actual rank identifications from a rating to an admiral.
I would like to see the Elysian rank insignia. Does anyone have a pic of these?

Naval ranks traditionally show on the cuffs as well as shoulder boards (epaulettes) and/or chest.

The cuff detail on the senior officer and other bling clearly denotes some form of higher rank (Lord High Muckety-muck or something).

Guard models do have badges of rank. Three upward chevrons appear on the chainsword arms for Sergeants. Power fists have three downward chevrons with a skull above them, probably Staff/Colour Sergeant.

The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus

Better pic showing the senior and junior officers and the bling they have.
