We all know Orks love a good fight and are drawn to conflict, so have they ever tried to attack Terra? I'm not aware of any stories in the fluff but surely there would be no tougher fight than taking on Terra, or other planets in the Sol Solar system

The HH siege on Terra was pretty epic and surely must have been 'felt' by Orks. Alternatively how about any Ork spores making it to Terra or surrounding worlds?

If Orks made it to the Terra system we'd all know because they'd have to either A) Exterminatus the whole planet including the Emporer or B) Accept the fact that they will be fighting Orks on Terra for eternity. I'm sure the forces on Terra can deal with eternal Ork issue and keep em in a low feral state but we'd know of it, it would be in the fluff.

So assuming they've not reached Terra yet, why not?

Would Orks have enough common sense to know it's suicide and therefore not try it, or merely a matter of they've not got to it yet?

They've probably been bust fighting everything else around. I do believe I've read somewhere that the WAAAAAAGGHHH's have slowly making their way towards Sol, but I don't remember where I read it, so consider this just random ramblings, I guess

Probably because the security/military buildup in the systems even just surrounding Sol is so tight no Ork hulk(s) would ever get that close in the first place.

Also since Orks are pretty interested in just about any brawl, they are willing to dive into it basically anywhere. If they're closer, they'd rather just head to the Octarius War and jump into the proper fightin' with 'Nids, or into the party on Armageddon where they have a significant foothold to just jump into the fighting right away.

I'm not well-versed in Ork lore, so perhaps there is a specific reason - and a number of other major Ork conflicts I'm sure.

They probably don't even know that such a planet even exists. I don't think the Orks care enough to trace the location of the Imperium's home planet. Also, I would expect that all of the systems closest to Terra would also be free of Ork infestation. So, simple answer, they don't know its there.

Nah, it's a relatively common occurence to cleanse a planet of Ork infestation. Valhalla leaps to mind, but there's many more. It's not harder than to torch the growing spores with flamers. I am not sure why you even say this, because BobtheHero and Furyou Miko disproved the very thing you speak of in the Orks VS Necrons thread.

The Orks would need a hideously mighty force to even reach Terra itself, not to mention landing or putting up a fight once they've landed. Ghazghkull couldn't break Armageddon, a planet that in comparison is much less well-defended (and if Terra was attacked, it would also trigger a much greater response).

It is thus quite probable that the Orks do not have a currently united force vast enough to make a lasting foothold on Terra.

It could be a combination of that there isn't any massive war happening in the vicinity to attract the Orks and that no Rok has happened to drift it's way into the Sol system's vicinity.

Though I'm sure the likes of Shon'tu wouldn't mind trying to make it reality considering the stunt he pulled using Tyranids...

A single Rok or other debris with Orks in it probably has randomly appeared in the area but was quickly obliterated before reaching the surface of anything. I agree only a massive Waaaaaaagh! that eclipses what Ghazzy has currently going could hope to touch Terra soil. I believe only Gork and Mork themselve leading the Orks could pull it off. It makes sense that the reason why it hasn't in the past is simply the Orks not knowing or caring much about where the Imperium originates. They just want a good fight so if a good fight is given to them in a direction away from Terra, they will follow. I'll have to reread that thread to see this proof of easy Ork cleansing, I don't recall it.

Ashiraya, with respect to Bobthehero and Furyou Miko proving anything in the Ork v Necron thread, you can't prove anything about the 40k universe, period. The fluff is far too open-ended and subjective. It's designed, consciously, to make any outcome possible.

After all, if you are an Ork fan and you KNOW your Orks can never beat the Necrons you're gonna be a very unhappy camper. GW will never deliberately do something like that unless some faction becomes so unpopular that it's financially untenable. In which case you get the Fantasy End Times treatment.

Other than that I agree with your post and heartily exalt it.

My two cents.
