I've played with list similar to this.  It's a lot of fun.  It's weakness is an enemy that gets stuck into assault with you.  The paradox though is that to bring that terrible shuripower to bear you have to get within 12" of the opponet making that unit easy charge bait.  You have to be very carefull to manuver your units to have more than one shooting at an enemy unit to make sure they are shredded and only little pieces of them actually get into hand to hand with you.

I usually kept the avatar centrally located to help with his morale effect and to counter assault when needed.

Terrible shuriken power? I count twenty starcannons. Thats the 'terrible power'. Shuriken weapons are obviously not a staple of this army.

I'd get some warlocks in their with embolden for the starcannon squads, somehow. Seeing as how this army is a paper tiger, some staying power in the morale department might come in handy to keep those infantry starcannons firing.  Wouldn't hurt to re-roll those Ld 6 FtD tests either.

I think you have given your friend's opponent 600 easy points. War Walkers suck. A stiff breeze blows the crap out of them. Wait until the new dex (hopefully) or use them in USF where they can hide in the portal.

Otherwise its a boring, shooty eldar list.

Terrible shuriken power?

I wasn't taking anything away from the starcannon power.  Thats pretty much a given.  A lot of people overlook the massed shurikens you can put out.  With two squads that 32 shots one round of shooting.

I agree that getting these guys to stick around and not break is key.  Everything you can do to bolster thier morale and make sure they don't run when shot at or assaulted.  The Avatar can help with the assault part but some warlocks with embolden would go along way.  You have to be sure the Avatar is in range of as many squads as you can so that when they get stuck in hth they stay around to the bitter end, making sure you tie up the enemy as long as possible to allow you to make the needed movements to either counter-attack or shoot the tar out of the enemy unit when the combat is over.

War walkers are the crap though.  I would look at taking them out of the army honestly you could do better with something else.  You could put a warlock in those guardian squads and boost thier numbers with the extra points.  Additionaly another counter assault unit that hang behind the line and assist the avatar to end hth attacks quick are another possiblity.

war walkers may be paper tigers.... but woah what a roar they have..... they hide until you get close enough, then unleash 6 star cannons a squad.... that's 18 star cannon shots a unit which equals a dead marine squad. Your Assault squad thinks it's gonna charge next turn and then bam, they're dead!

I could not possibly disagree more about the war walkers. I never field an army with less than 3. They are walking death to anything they look at. Park that guideing farseer next to them and you kill 12 models a turn (on average), that's an entire squad of just about anything. Its rare that my war walkers ever get shot at, let alone killed because anything that could see them in my shooting phase is dead by the end of it. You just have to be careful not to leave them standing around in the open where they will get shot by things that they didn't shoot at. Also don't forget that they have a 36" range. If anything happens to be close than that to you, it means you need to back up (or move lateraly...or just kill them). The insane amount of fire power these things put out more than makes up for their frailty. I'm played many many games with them and they always pay for themselves and then some. I can only think of about 2 or 3 games I've played in where they actualy all got taken down (one of those was due to me sacrificing them inorder to win the objective).

I think the thing that really puts most people off to them is that they do not know how to use them properly. That or they just look at the stats and turn their noses up at them. You have to keep them back and out of sight. They are a finess unit and if you don't have finess, you won't be able to use them effectivly. But when you do learn to use them effectivly, they become your most dangerous unit. What other shooting unit whipes out a 10 man squad of marines every turn starting on turn 1 with average (or slightly below average) rolls?

The rest of the army is faily sound.  Lots of guardians in decent sized squads with platforms.  In general you will need to forget about the shuriken catapults entirely and just make use of the platforms.  The only time the catapults should ever be used is if something with more than 6" of movement has caught up to you and you can't get away or if something deep strikes near you.  In those cases, its ok to move up and fire the catapults.  In all others, you should be moveing back and shooting the platforms.  With that kind of play style, it will make it nearly impossible for anyone to cross the board to you.  Just be sure to prioritize fast assault units when you chose targets.

Droppods will die as soon as they get out, tau fish lists will get popped by the brightlances or if nothing else, I can hide the entire game, and a Daemon will get shot to heck before he drops the bomb hopefully.... depending on terrain. FOTD might hurt a little bit and FOA is easily avoided by spacing

Well then here's a better idea.  Wait till Halloween and unlease the new Eldar codex on thier a$$.  Make it an ironic twist and use a Saim-Hann army!
