There are already 'What are you playing' and 'What are you reading', so why not what are you watching? I myself just finished watching Mad Max: Fury Road for the third time. Now I really understand both the plot and the characters. WITNESS! I also began to rewatch Breaking Bad, currently in the middle of the second season.
Spoiler:
It's already starting to get to me, I almost cried when Jesse comforted that little kid...

Not right now, but last night I caught the docu-drama 'The Gamechangers' on iPlayer. It covers the controversy/legal proceedings/protests/cultural effect around the GTA games, and really was an excellent piece of television even for someone like me who has very limited knowledge of the games themselves. It's not kid-friendly, there's a lot of swearing and a fair bit of violence, but I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who's even slightly interested in gaming, society or just good character drama.
Tonight's viewing will be a Channel 4 documentary on Spitfires. What an interesting and exciting life I lead!
Being on my computer, I'm trying to watch as many highlights of this past weekend's RWC action (seriously, the final minutes of Japan beating SA will never get old)

I watch hardly any TV but currently I am watching. Z Nation, a low budget but good zombie programme, and Dag, a dark comedy about a Norwegian marriage counselor. That's just about all I watch for the time being.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's a good scene from Deep Space Nine.

Finishing up on House of Cards season 3. Gotta say, something was lost when Frank got his revenge and took the big seat. The thrill was in the chase and this season didn't really have the same magic for me. Next season seems like it will shift focus and make Frank the one being hunted for a change.
His signature move, the ring knock on the desk in the oval office at the end of Season 2 was epic.
Will probably binge watch Narcos this weekend, instead of spending hours watching Draft Kings commercials( NFL)

"Sometimes the only victory possible is to keep your opponent from winning." - The Emperor, from The Outcast Dead.
"Tell your gods we are coming for them, and that their realms will burn as ours did." -Thostos Bladestorm

I liked it overall, but I also disliked it for the criminal misuse of Guy Pearce.
My oldest brother, having been EOD in Iraq and the Stan, hates that movie with a passion. I get where he comes from, as me being 4 years as a REMF I could tell some of it was too farfetched/unrealistic.
In my experience, I think its like that for any movie where one's profession is the subject of the movie and portrays it in a unrealistic fashion. Cops hate most cop movies/shows, nurses hate most Hospital shows etc. etc.

Yeah, and the same for Ralph Finnes as well, but such is the fate of Brits in American movies, either evil or killed off instantly!
I figured it probably wasn't totally realistic, though it seemed better researched than a lot of war films, and the directing and cinematography definitely got across the stakes and tension if not the exact science. There were several moments where I did a proverbial double take and thought 'why has this guy with a video camera/with a phone/guy in a car got me nervous?', those were the bits where I really thought it was done well.

Honestly I think it comes down to the purpose of the movie. I have a good buddy who is a sheriff's deputy. He absolutely HATES the movie SWAT. But, coincidentally, his absolute favorite movie (probably of all time) is The Other Guys.
I am watching a short (fake) documentary on the Four Year War that preceded the original series of Star Trek. It's called Prelude to Anaxar. It's a crowd-funded production that is extremely well done and the graphics are amazing and professional. They even hired professional actors for this which puts it above most other stuff that's come out of fandom recently.
Same time as Napoleonic wars (never hit me oddly enough).
Washington DC was sacked and burned.
America had a terrible military system and that war reformed it into something a little more professional.
Final united effort on the Natives behalf to secure their place in their world.
Canadian national identity secured after fighting the USA.
Some epic naval fights went down.
A lot more learned, but obviously I have to check the documentaries facts before I recommend it.
The documentary is 2 hours long, I have about half an hour left to watch tonight. 1812 is a pretty fascinating conflict but it seems to be over shadowed by the much larger wars in Europe going on at the time.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios
Well, since its the off-season I'm watching old stuff. NCIS mostly.
Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines
Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I've seen that series and loved it! So much better than the newer one.

Omg I cannot wait for them to finish the whole project of Axanar. That prelude video is just absolutely EPIC!
As for what I am currently watching, I have several series in progress on Netflix:

Seaquest DSV (near the end of season 1)
MacGyver (just started, only a few episodes in)
Cosmos (one episode to go)
When I finish ST:Voyager, I will probably start watching Enterprise.

Just seen last year's '71, about a British soldier who gets separated from his unit in Northern Ireland. It was.. decent. Not as brilliant as I was led to believe by the reviews that got me to watch it in the first place, but perfectly watchable. Very well filmed, and there were some sequences that had a definite sense of claustrophobia and lack of control, particularly one near the start when
Spoiler:
a house raid sparks a riot (which is what causes the lead's separation from the unit). It was escalated very well from a writing and directing perspective, always feeling slightly beyond anyone's power to stop or control. The sound here was particularly good, a wall of shouts and yells and impacts which, combined with a very mobile camera, made it exceptionally hard to know quite what was going on at times.
The directing on the whole was very good, and the score complimented the pace excellently, I just feel that, considering the subject matter, maybe a little more examination of that and a little less action might have helped. The issues surrounding the conflict were certainly touched on, but I definitely think there was room to go a little deeper there. I can see why they chose not to, but I would have liked to have seen a little more of that.

Gotham is on Netflix now??
Just finished Daredevil, and bought Mad Max: Fury Road as a test movie for my roommates' new theater-quality soundbox (I give the best Christmas presents). It was life changing.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

no one hardly speaks more than a sentence, the exception being Immortan Joe, The Wives, and some War Boys. This is proof that a movie can work without that much dialogue, as long as there are some great actors. For instance, after Furiosa gets stabbed, and tells Nux to take the wheel. When I heard her say 'I'm gonna need you to drive' with that voice, I knew how badly hurt she was. You can hear the pain in her voice. That is good acting.
I've seen a lot of people saying that the movie doesn't have a story. It does! My theory as to why there's no real story is that it's all a story. Mind blown? Max is just a legend, a word burger told by the history men. In the first movie he's a cop trying to uphold society, in the second he's... Actually I haven't seen any of those, but Max is a symbol of justice and peace, a symbol of fighting against oppression. Since the oldest lady of the Vuvalini said she lived before everything went to gak, and she's approaching 80, there's no way Max could have been in the old world.
Also, Michael Bay probably gaked himself when he saw it. I mean, almost nothing is fake! All the cars crashing, explosions, Bane strapped to that zombies car... Just perfect.
