Has anyone used the stormlord as a successful firing platform before?
I was thinking about using one with my skitarri/admech and placing my heavy grab cannons in there and the dominus to repair.

Hull

I've fought a Stormlord before if that counts as experience -

My opponent placed an Enginseer w/ Servitors inside for repairs and used an Autocannon Heavy Weapons Squad for shooting out the top.

The Stormlord's dream is to sit still and wreck infantry for the whole game (firing twice for 30 shots total).
Therefore, if things are going well... you need infantry inside which have a huge range in order to actually do anything.
If things aren't going well and the Stormlord has to move around or move up, then having shorter ranged infantry isn't as much of a problem.

Any and all reps though are useful - they make your Superheavy so much harder to put down and dissuade your opponent from shooting it (which may or may not be what you want).

The biggest loss for superheavy transports was the loss of "stable firing platform" (and the 2 crew-served heavy stubbers option on the Stormlord).

Prior to the current rules you had superheavies in apoc only, and the troops in them always counted as stationary, I would take 6 heavy weapon squads and a couple ICs and throw them in the stormlord to all fire from the top at a few different targets while moving(6 teams is 18 models taking up 36 "models" of space while 20 models could fire out)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I would be using the heavy grav cannons from the admech troops who are relentless and give it a decent assault protection.
Their range is only 30", but I could move them 6" first turn right in the middle of the board and have a dominus with them who can repair 1-7 hull points a turn.

I'm wondering what others I could could put in their to help.
