So I'm buying two boxes of the new HH box, and splitting it so it's equal with my friend which leaves me:

2 Praetor's (Kurtha Sedd in Power Armor)
30 Veteran Tactical Marines (4 Sergeants)
5 Cataphracti Terminators
1 Contemptor Dreadnought

1. Is Kurtha Sedd a Praetor?
2. Does anyone know if there are any weapon options for any of them?
3. Should I buy Night Lords shoulder pads for the tactical marines?

1. Kurtha Sedd is a Chaplain Centurion, though since "he" has no real markings, if you want to go wysiwyg, he can be any centurion/praetor/console you want with a power maul.
2. yes, they are full sprews. the contemptor has a few different ranged guns, the terminators have a buncha different arms, and the tacticals can be assembled with multiple different weapons
3. You could, they should work just fine.


If you just starting with Horus heresy, and not to worried about the board game half, I would build them as either
1 Praetor (pride of the legion right of war)
1 Centurion (any kind, really)
3 10-man veteran tactical squads w/ Missile launcher and your choice of special weapon
1 5-man terminator squad
1 contemptor

Or

1 Praetor (no right of war)
1 Centurion (any kind, really)
2 15-man tactical squads (all bolters)
1 5-man terminator squad
1 contemptor

Awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much! It looks like most people will have no problem with me counting Kurtha Sedd as a Praetor or Centurion, and it's best to choose between 3 10 man or 2 15 man tactical squads?

in 30k, there is a thing going on with the point costs where it's cheaper to take a single large unit than multiple small ones

If you were to go regular tactical squads, 15-20 man squads would be best. If you were to go veteran tactical squads (closer to 40k tac. squads, usually an elite option) 10 man squads would be the best.

Personally, I love running full on 20-man tacitcal squads because that many bolter shots is fun.

Don't forrget you can also build the Terminators as a Command Squad in Terminator armor. Just to throw another idea out there.
