As the title says do you ig vets think the exterminator with a lascannon and heavy bolter sponsons is a good tank?

Leave a comment as to why you think it is terrible or why it is good or some other good builds for leman russes.

I use it, as it's the only reliable non-pask tank in the whole codex.

Besides Wyverns, but a mortar-carrier is hardly a tank.

I use it with mm sponsons and a lc. Jack of all trades, master of none. Good amount of high strength shots.

Gotta say, I use it with a bunch of other Russes (Armored Company) which tend to be specialized. If you have a specific role in mind this tank shouldn't be your first option.

The Exterminator is quite good. Give it MM sponsons and a hull mounted LC and it can do quite a lot of things. As others have said though, if you have a specialized idea in mind it might be better to look into other tanks

I probably should have mentioned this before but I am running it in a steel host and I already have paskinisher and executioner and I was wondering if the exterminators would be good for it.

Exterminators are very good for long range anti armor, provided you're shooting at lighter armor (AV:12 or lower). They can threaten AV:13 with glances, but are better served shooting the lighter armor and plinking away at infantry. You can use them in a few different ways with decent success.

First, you can kit it to hunt armor as I detailed above, which the tank does rather admirably. with its 4 shot twinlinked Autocannon. Couple that with a hull mounted lascannon, and mix in sponson multimeltas if you have the points to spare.
(I personally don't do this as it makes the tank a touch more expensive than I like, but there is merit to doing it if you want the extra shots. I Just don't like spending the points on two one shot a turn weapons that are half the range of the turret & hull weapons, and will only hit half the time on top of that if they are in range. Better to just save those points for other upgrades on other units in my opinion.)
I've had this tank do extremely well as an attached squadron mate to a Command Vanquisher (Also run without sponsons) and combined with a BS:4 Vanquisher with a hull lascannon, it performs very well over all in almost ever game I field it.

The second method I've used to run this tank is as a 'poor man's Punisher' variant. Hull heavy bolters, sponson heavy bolters, and a pintle mounted heavy stubber let this thing kick out a lot of shots a turn for a fairly reasonable point cost (+25 points more than the base tank cost, so just 155 points). That gives you a tank that can lay down 16 shots a turn with 13 of them being ST:5 or higher and AP:4. There is a bit of a range discrepancy between the main gun and the hull/sponson/pintle mounted weapons on the tank and the turret, but you can still reach out 36" with everything after you move, which is a sizable chunk of table real estate on your average sized board. It won't do much against armored targets, but it will make even 2+ save models sweat a little bit by weight of fire in my experience.

That's my thoughts on that. Take it easy for now.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

In the age of Hull points it is the only tank capable of killing Wave Serpents in a round. With the Help of dice of course but it can force enough jink saves to make them miss a few.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Fwiw, it's a pretty kick ass tank as pasks buddy. With the split fire command and preferred enemy it can dish out some damage.

I would probably be more tempted by the exterminator if you could take autocannons as hull- or sponson-mounted weapons. Autocannons struggle against tougher units unless you can spam them to force wounds and hull points, which Exterminators can't do, and Eradicators outclass them against horde infantry.

IMHO a full squad of 3 is a decent second choice for Pask & co. This way he gets more range than he does in his usual punisher and, if necessary, he can use his split fire order to focus on an AV14 threat while the Exterminators hit softer targets.
