Greetings All,

I am building a Tau Army and I would like to know what marking signifies what rank.

I have both versions of the Tau Codex and I have not seen a direct reference to what I am looking for.

So if one or more of you learned Tau players can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

The difficult I do immediately, the impossible takes me a few minutes longer.

I think that this is something that might be covered in the background book for Kauyon and also in the paint book, but I don't know for sure.

Generally the markings are just those little stripey bits that you see.

What is this background book that you speak of?

The "Kauyon" Supplement is a two book set. One set has rules, scenarios, and other bits(for you as a Tau player? It's not that helpful if you bought the newest Codex) while the other is purely the background material for the fight listed within.

Infantry shas'ui get sept-color on antenna and helmet, with sept-color markings occasionally seen on shoulder-pads as well, battlesuit shas'yu get sept-color markings on helmets, battleship shas'vre get full sept-color helmets and Shas'el/shas'O get reversed helmet markings to the shasv're (all sept color, with armor-color markings).

Edit: minor corrections

Yes, indeed. What a terrible piece of cultural imperialism it is for me to say that a country shouldn't murder its own citizens
