Either dedicate all your anti-tank into it or ignore it. They still work the same at one hull point and at sixty hull points so there is no point 'whittling it down each turn (exception to this is pot shots, but don't make pot shots a habit).

We played an ITC scenario. However we played it wrong , as stomp only applies to nuts that are in CC .Provided I read it right. That helps a little bit I think.... ITC Scenario 1 was a lot of fun , I just think with super heavies the game denigrates to who has the better super heavy wins.

That big sucker has a rear armor of 10. Drop behind it with combi melta. It might kill it, it might just piss it off, but it will do some serious damage. I have had mine taken down to 1HP from that trick.

Drop pod melta/grav to it's rear-end should work.

Even massed str 5 shooting will wreck that thing from behind. 20 shots, even if you only hit with 10 of them, is still 3.3 hull points on average, though it does get smaller after the pesky invulnerable save. (like 1.65).
Often you do just want to ignore it though. Imagine that you literally pay it no attention. Will it kill 888 points worth of models over the course of a (likely) 5 turn game? EXTREMELY unlikely. And the models that didn't die (and didn't care to shoot at it) are just playing against the other 1000 points in his army, except that's ALL of your army. Can definitely work well.
Some missions cater to deathstar units and some don't. Scouring? He can score 1/3 at the end. Congrats. Relic? Well he'll probably get that one. As long as the missions are balanced, it'll work out in the long haul for everyone.

Punisher vulture? If you whiffed with that many shot I'm sorry but the dice gods were against you that day. I have nothing to add that other haven't already stated, with superheavy vehicles in general you want to go for the rear with any anti tank shooting you can.

Just player a game with a super on both sides (Typhon tank and Imperial Knight) and both died without ever harming one another.
The knight he flanked with meltas and shot with a tri-las pred, and the Typhon I poked at with haywire and grav then finished off with a power fist.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Different superheavies, different vulnerabilities - but yes, the way to take out the Brass Scorpion is to get behind it. Even rapid-firing bolters and thrown krak grenades have a decent chance of causing damage.
Alternatively, take your own superheavy walker.
The Brass Scorpion is lethal at crowd control - many stomps, and many marine-killing area-effect weapons with ignores cover. Because it's got a lousy weapon skill and is 'only' S10 AP2, though, it's not great at killing a knight with a reaper chainsword.
