I purchased and collected Imperial fists for armies on parade, now looking to expand on them for competitive gaming.

Only problem is, I can't exactly tell what it is that makes Imperial Fists competitive, or rather how to make them competitive against the other top tier armies.

I'm brand new to playing marines, so just after some veteran advice on them, cheers!

The good thing is the reroll of the ones in bolters, tankhunter rules, Sternguards, Centurions and Lysander (lucky to assault something)

Bolter drill on sternguard ammo is very good.

Tank hunting devs are also a major perk.

One question is how competitive you want to be? Some of the stronger options these days are going to be the skyhammer annihilation force and the full company MSU spam list.

But for competitive at the local level, building a demi-comapny in a gladius should get you some good games.

Go for the expansion codex for close range bolster drill. Use the sky hammer with tons of stern guard.

Turn one mega bombardment with tons of twin linked star guard ammo.

A local in my area has a semi-competitive fists army that makes use of prodded sternguard, assault centurions and a pair of knights.

I'd say a lot of Tac marines, Sternguard, and Centurioins in Pods. Also, Devs and Lysander are great.
