[code]Well, it's been quite some time since I posted here. I got married a couple years ago and have not done a lot of hobby related stuff since then. I'm in the service and deployed to Okinawa now so, work schedule allowing, I finally have an opportunity to do a bit of modeling and gaming. I packaged all my stuff before I left home and ordered a thing or two here and started painting again. This blog will follow my endeavors for the next few months. I have most of the stuff I need but I think I need a better light. The desk lamp I have isn't the greatest.

Without further ado, here are my first 3 projects.

My first project to get me in the swing was a quick bike squad. I will probably make the tires lighter so the are discernible from the black trim.

I bought an air compressor and airbrush. This is my first real foray into airbrushing. I've airbrushed before but only priming or base coating. This was my first attempt at color gradient and making crisp lines. I am designing heraldry based on my own family crest and I will likely have someone like fallout games print some decals up for it.

Here's the top. I was rather proud of the little window.

This sicaran was my second try with the airbrush. I bought some weathering powders I would like to learn how to use. After a bit of practice I'll try weathering this tank. There is some "battle damage" added to spots that I messed up or got extra paint. This one has magnetized sponsons. I can take them off or switch the las cannons for bolters.

I have a few more things in the works so hopefully some updates soon.

Cool.i'm impressed with your airbrushing, considering it's only your first few attempts.

So... I ruined my Legion Praetor

I painted him dawnstone. I wondered why he looked so light and why administration grey highlights were not showing up. I kept working. Was pretty happy with how the paint job was going, just thought it was a bit too light... Then I realized I had painted him the wrong color... I did the same to several Tac marines as well. I'm very sad and not sure how to proceed. I don't really wan to re-do what I've done but nor do I want a weird light colored character that is different from the army. I did learn a valuable lesson to read the colors on my paints before going to work...

The one in the middle is actually dawnstone. You can see it's darker. Ugh...

I can sympathize with the frustration, but honestly, he looks great. I don't think he's going to look too out of place if you leave him be. SW have a reputation for individualism more than other legions. Maybe go back and add some freehand glyphs and runes and sort of draw attention away from the grey? Also, if you could try glazing him with some darker grey mixed with glaze medium to bring the color down. At any rate, I hope you find something you're happy with.

You could try going for a "faded" effect by painting the darker color in the recesses. Or just suck it up and give it a nice bath of isopropyl alcohol.

So, I'm not a crazy person right?

I started buying Space Wolves and I think it got a little out of hand. I few eBay auctions and online store sales later I have amassed a rather sizeable pile of plastic. We'll see how long I can stick with this project

Getting started.

Oh... here's something else I picked up when the price of the pound dropped. I have a feeling this is the state it will remain in for some time, I hate myself...

Wow. Gotta level with ya, you probably are a crazy person. But if it makes you feel better you're not the only one out there who's gone a little overboard on ebay. Know the feeling quite well myself Just embrace it. Acceptance opens up all sorts of new possibilities! Looking forward to seeing this stuff painted. Also, what is the forgeworld stuff? A titan of some kind?

In all honesty... it will probably end up in my storage unit. I have a busy job and a wife that is less than enthusiastic about my hobby so time is short, but I haven't given up yet. Last project of this size that I completed was a 28mm ww2 project. i got a couple hundred german and russian figures, about 20 tanks, and a large amount of terrain done over the course of a year. If my motivation holds maybe I can get this done by next Christmas. Probably not as I cant bring myself to do "quicky" paint jobs like I did on the much much cheaper ww2 figs.

Well you're the real deal, man. Flying through these guys and they're turning out great. Love the vindi. And I'm glad you didn't toss the praetor in the green goo. He's well done, even if his shade is off. Besides, I hear different shades of grey and werewolf dudes are popular with the ladies these days

Slow progress on some troops. Added some heads. I can't fins the charger for my dremel nor can i find my pen drill so I cant drill holes in the bolters. The arms are on hold until i get up to the shop but that requires me to not be lazy. no telling when that will happen.

here's the stuff I've finished so far this year

So I bought far too many Prospero sets when they came out and now have more Mk III marines than I'll ever paint. I built up a few all the way rather than leaving arms and such off. I am going to try to paint some up quickly so I can play with them soon. I'll be experimenting with battle damage which I dont normally paint. They have their initial grey base coat but I will likely not be able to work on them for another week, Going out of town for work. Hopefully I can knock them out next weekend.

Also finished my first squad (which I started in mid Dec...)
