So.. I haven’t decided yet, but I think I may try and make it to GenCon this year after all.. The event registrations are still up, so I think I would probably set up demo events for the new fantasy rules rather than BWG, since that’s going to be the next big project. I won’t be able to have a booth or anything like that so I wouldn’t be bringing anything to sell. I’m thinking maybe 2 or 3 90-minute sessions throughout the day, with 4 players per session and I’ll provide the minis and everything.

Anyone else planning to be there?

It's hard to say, I've been once before, My Brother worked for Corvus Belli and got a room on their tab. I got a job Demo'ing the Firefly game for Gale Force Nine. Fourteen Sessions during the week.

I still plan to "Demo" BWG during Origins. I finished My Son's Christmas Bolt Action Army in time to give it to him for Easter. This removes a huge block to other projects..... BWG comes to the front of the line.

There is the possibility that we'll make a day-trip, though, it's only about two or three hours away.

In January, I work the Ohayocon Convention, they have an expanding Tabletop Game room, it might be worth checking out.

I'll be there, but we wont have a booth either.

Cool, I haven't decided yet but now I'm leaning toward probably not. I was thinking between the long drive and fact that I can't be there the whole time and run tons of events.. But still on the fence for gencon this year, guess I still have a month to decide since the deadline for events isn't till May.

Maybe I would get better results if I try and plan for Adepticon next year and getting a real booth and all? It's a bit farther away for me, but will still be a whole lot cheaper than a booth at Gencon.

I know next year I wouldn't be able to do Origins next year since that's always in June and I'm doing an alaskan cruise right around the same time, and this year is out for me too.

Perhaps you should look at Ohayocon, it's in January, I'm a Staffer for it. It's not officially a gaming convention, they have a respectable gaming room which has been expanding each year. It's lively with Cosplayers and other attractiions. http://ohayocon.org

If you guys need anything to run your demos better let me know I can send a couple of rulebooks .. I also have a few Gamecraft buildings that I never put together if you don't have enough terrain.

I'm still on the fence about GenCon.. I think I'm probably going to have to skip it after all.. I think Adepticon will be better since I should be able to afford a booth there.. only problem is I'll need lots of time off to set up and travel and everything. I think for GenCon you have to set up on tuesday to be ready for media on wednesday and then the con opens thursday. So I'm thinking I'd have to drive up on monday, be there till Sunday, then drive home the next monday. Or maybe I should try and plan to get one of those cheaper gencon booths for new first time companies next year?

I wish they would bring back 1996 when Origins was here in Philly.

If you haven't been on a cruise before, expect to gain ten pounds, the food is great and plentiful, and you can get seconds and thirds..... even if it's Lobster... get all the appetizers, not just one... I took one to the Bahamas a few years back.

I'll hold for now on the "Tchotchke" I do have the current rulebook and the new gang cards. I don't want to diminish your terrain vault..... It is a fact that no one ever has enough terrain. Business Cards and other adverts will be a "must"

Hope to see you at one of the Conventions.

Food is the whole reason I want to do a cruise We are planning to follow the Hobbit Diet on the ship, 7 meals per day!

Yeah I can definitely send you guys some biz cards and stuff. Last time I sent some to Jim with a coupon code for demo folks to order stuff online if they liked the game.

I could probably do an updated quickstart rules sheet if you think that will help.. or something like a cheat sheet for people to refer to?

Definitely a cheat sheet would be very helpful, business cards with a coupon code should do well also.

Last year, I had 2 fellas buy online WHILE the game was going, using your code. .

Is the rulebook the new-improved one, or the same one from last year?

The rules haven't really changed much, the only difference really is adding in the Beast faction rules plus some minor tweaks. but for continuity's sake maybe you should have the newest rulebook? I can send you a few copies, how many would you need? I think you said other folks in your club will be demoing too? Also, I still have a lot of the original rulebooks in stock and those are fine if you only ever plan to play a more historical game with just humans.

Me and two others are sharing duties this year, I understand.

For demo purposes, though, I am only planning on running "normal" historical based games.. makes things a little easier

HOWEVER.. I have found that Origins thinks I am running BOTH kinds of games.. sooooo.. need to get some beasts asap..

OK, I'll send you some goodies

I'll have to send the cards separately though. They'll be like last time, coupon on 1 side and kickstarter ad on the other. I think the KS would probably end up being around July or August though, just knowing how long it takes to make stuff.

I somehow lost my original rulebook when I had a wheel come off while I was headed to work; though I do have the new Rulebook and cards already.

I have a new guy at work; this makes any absence at Origins less likely. I benefit by being a Military Retiree, so I can show up and get in for half price.at any time.

If you're sitting on old Quick-Start Rules, they should suffice. I'm trying to consider other visuals we could use..

The Cabins on Cruise Ships are tiny and cramped, though the beds are large and comfy w/reading lights. If they have a Tea, it's well worth visiting.

Cool, well the Savage Beasts book is pretty much the same, the rules don't really change.. just some minor tweaks. The beasts are added on like a whole separate faction, so if you just play with Infamous Gangs then it's the same game as before

Maybe I'll see if I can do Origins this year? Like drive up friday, hang out saturday, drive home sunday? Might be tough to swing though

We picked the cheapest suite they had for the cruise so we'll have a little more room.. It's not much of a suite, I think there's like an extra inch between the wall and bed. But we wanted to get priority boarding and a better room service menu and we can eat in the snooty restaurant instead of the big dining room with all the riff raff But we really hate the idea of dressing up, so we'll probably end up at the buffet most of the time.

If you can make it to this year's Origins we could put you up if you don't mind "roughing it" ) camp cots, etc.Hotels can be pricey and near impossible, especially if it's last minute. Consider it an option.

We did our cruise with the Boy Scouts/Group Rate; My Wife has done it twice, once with me, once without. I'm not sure which she enjoyed the most.

I still have to make sure the boss will let me But, i was thinking I'd get some place out in the burbs where it will be cheap and then drive dowtown for the day on saturday. That's what I did for GenCon, just gotta leave early so there's still places to park. There were a couple of downtown hotels I found but they're all price-gouged.

Well a little kick in the yarbols... I hadn't realized that GM registration has closed... I was on the Infinity Columbus site; I'll be available to assist Porkuslime if he could use assistance. June is coming earlier than I'd expected.

So I remembered why I can't do Origins this year, forgot my girlfriend's mom is visiting, so I'm gonna have to do an airport run that weekend.

Maybe I should try and plan for GenCon for 2017? By that time I should have a lot of new models to sell plus the fantasy game will be up and running.. I could have a western and a fantasy demo table going in the booth. And the ShipNaked folks can bring all of my products from the warehouse for me to sell there, and then whatever I don't sell they can take back with them afterwards.. a lot less for me to worry about hauling myself.
