This is a blog to show the progress of my other chaos army, which I have started in order to make use of various old minis around my house that have never had a home. There will be a few new miniatures in here too (such as Krebus, shown below), but most will be OOP metal and plastic chaos space marines that have been stripped down and repainted in the colours of the Champions of Plufestea, a mainly Tzeentch-worshipping warband. There will be some black legion minis, daemons and others popping up as well.

I reckon I'll eventually do a Nurgle-themed army too, since I already have armies for Slaanesh and Khorne (and Khorne again). Might as well do them all!

Background

Spoiler:
The champions of Plufestea are a renegade chapter. They were once known as the Blue Hands, an Ultramarines successor chapter. During the battle for Armageddon, they began to dabble in the dark arts in order to gain the upper hand against a tide of Orks. At first, the marines promised each other that the magic they used was a means to an end to gain victory against the Orks, but gradually they succumbed to the temptations of the dark gods. The ruinous powers granted them many victories, and by the time they had left Armageddon, they had become fully-fledged worshippers of chaos.

Upon their return to their homeworld, the fortress world of Plufestea, they spread the vile promises of the warp to the inhabitants, and slowly the entire planet became devoted in the worship of chaos, with cults of Tzeentch, Slaanesh and some of the minor gods occurring around the planet.

The warband is currently led by Krebus, a mighty sorcerer of Tzeentch. He rose to prominence when he used his psychic powers to defeat Inquisitor Gryaznov. Gryaznov had secretly observed what had happened on Armageddon but refrained from revealing what he knew, since the Blue Hands were successfully holding back the Xenos tide. Once the battle was over, Gryaznov sent spies to observe what happened on Plufestea. When he realised that the planet was doomed, he attempted to organise an orbital bombardment to raze the planet’s surface. However, before the message reached the nearest Imperial fleet, Gryaznov’s ship was ambushed by a ship commanded by Krebus. Krebus has received visions from Tzeentch about impending doom, and tried to convince the warband’s hierarchy that the danger was real, but to no avail.

Knowing that without action, they would all perish, Krebus had stolen a cruiser and ordered the crew to follow his vague directions. Gryaznov’s forces were overwhelmed by hordes of fanatical cultists. Eventually Gryaznov sought out Krebus and challenged him. The two fought, sword against sword, with neither gaining the upper hand. Eventually, Krebus, sensing that the fight was going nowhere, allowed Gryaznov to wound him. He retreated to a dark corner, cursing the Inquistitor. As the Inquisitor spoke into his vox to call for backup, Krebus began to chant a ruinous spell, summoning all the powers of Tzeentch. He unleashed a torrent of blue flame from his eyes that spread around the surrounding corridors, incinerating Gryaznov and those who had come to his aid in the most agonising fashion. Leaderless, the inquisitorial troops were quickly routed by the followers of Krebus. Krebus returned to Plufestea with both cruisers, revelling in his glory.

Below are Sorceror Lord Krebus, his familiar (both from the Execution Force boxset) and his understudy, Sorceror Nazudas, who is an OOP Sorceror model with a head of unknown origin - it's possibly from some kind of fantasy shoulder pad, stuck onto a regular SM bare head. I have no idea where the shield is from.

Very cool. Is there anyone who doesn't agree that the familiar is a great little model!

I doubt it! I love it. It's got a wonderful character to it. The size, the way it's hunched over, the way it's mostly covered by robes. What is it? Who knows!

Some cultists. I made some of these conversions years ago, when the Eye of Terror codex came out. They have finally been included, along with some of the newer cultists, in an actual army.
Any painting suggestions are welcome - I'm not happy with how I've painted these, but I've never really painted 'humans' before, addicted as I am to power armour!

Some Black Legion Terminators! I am building the Abaddon formation, and this is the start of that. These are very old models. They started off black, then some were painted red, and now I've gone full on Black Legion.
They've hardly ever seen battle because I never considered them finished, so it brings me immense joy to finally be able to seem them polished off with highlights, decals and varnish. Well done me. Haha!

Here are some Chaos Spawn! I have been meaning to make these for a while, and they're finally done. Why do they look the way they do? Well...

I never liked the current spawn, as they just look too purposeful for how I envisage spawn (which is as a gibbering mess of tentacles and eyes).
I also had a bunch of random parts lying around that really I could only see being used for spawn.

Therefore you see the freaky mess I have now created. These will be used in all my chaos armies for when champions get turned into spawn; hence the random colours!
See if you can name the parts!

Since I've never posted any of them, here are various older models from the Champions of Plufestea:
Lots of classic chaos space marines here, with some random Necromunda mutant cultists.

That is a very characterful force. Very nice.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Yes, I definitely do like painting daemons. I bought two of these metal daemon princes back in the early 2000s. Both got built and painted, and one survived the ages as Kamonok of the World Eaters of Frenesia (see my relevant thread). The other was painted hideously and was eventually taken apart and stripped. Recently I rebuilt it and converted it a bit. This ANGRY looking creation is the result. It wasn't intended to represent a particular god, but rather just be a way of trying a different colour scheme to those I usually go for. It came out fairly well, I reckon. I didn't give it a name since it will only be used for dark apotheosis results in games (probably)!

Love that Daemon Prince, very cool model.

I love our cultists but would be interested to see how some of that color scheme works with the rim of the base painted black or steel Legion Drab.

Keep up the fine work -- Hail Slaanesh!

I had some snap-fit CSM from the assassins game, so I put them together and painted them in a Black Legion style to go with Abaddon and the Bringers of Despair. I then added an old metal marine and a 'chosen' as a champion, and hey presto! A wholly unconverted but smart looking squad to, perhaps, start an actual Black Legion army...

I then painted up this Black Legion tactical squad that I bought off ebay. I did no modelling at all on these, but I think they're great. They have a taller pose than normal marines and there is some clever use of Khorne berzerker parts. This colour scheme is so easy to paint that I'm definitely going to roll out more. In fact, I just picked up some bargain dark vengeance bits, so look forward to a helbrute and some cultists!
