...welcome to the NEW Mierce Miniatures Darklands Ongoing News and Rumors Thread!

For an excellent summary of Darklands, the game and its various Kindreds:

The Darklands: First Edition Rule Book - Shipping Soon!

Fellow Miercenaries!

Today is an excellent day, for we can bring you news of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book - it will be shipping in the week commencing the 18th of April 2016 (as long as we can get hold of the relevant boxes to do so)!

Your copy will be signed!

Your copy of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book will be signed by the Mierce Miniatures team, which we hope will be a nice surprise for you all!

We know that some of you do not want a signed copy, so please e-mail us to let us know and we will make sure your copy is not signed.

Further Copies of the Rule Book

If you would like any further copies of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book, they are now available to pre-order from the Mierce Miniatures website. You can also purchase further signed copies of the rule book from now until Monday, as per the offer to non-Kickstarter backers.

However, please note that its RRP is now £39.99 - £5.00 more than originally expected - and this is because of its length, 364 pages, which is around a hundred pages more than estimated previously. This means you have got hold of your copy much cheaper than expected!

Also, info on the next Kickstarter:

Creator Mierce Miniatures 32 minutes ago

Oghurithneach will occur... at some point! The next project is monsters... the new kindreds haven't got many! Plus, er, Conand.

You'll be able to have an Umaer with crossbow as a commander too. Working on converting Bagseg to be that commander.

That Conand part?

And then that loud thump you heard?

That was Zed, passing out from overwhelming anticipation and joy!

Look what just arrived...

This thread's getting a bit long in the tooth...I might use the occasion of the Darklands Rulebook Release/Shipping to start a brand new Mierce Darklands Ongoing News and Rumors Thread...

...and, from today:

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 3 hours ago

Lots of books shipped today, but in order not to break the local post office we have to stagger it over a few days, so expect more to be shipped until the end of next week. We're starting with UK first.

Also, new Kickstarter will either be launching tomorrow or...Monday!

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 4 hours ago

I don't do Friday launches any more - they mean that my weekend (inevitably tied up with kids) is wiped out and I become The Bad Man.

So it's tomorrow, or Monday I'm afraid...

Is everyone ready?!?

GET INTO IT!

I don't like this new thread, it's all echoey and smells of paint.

Still, dispatch notification on Rulebook today, so yay for that!

Wow that's a monster book!

Looks very intriguing, I've only ever looked in at the miniatures before and realised a game was in the running.

Is anyone able to give a very brief synopsis of how the game functions? And of the concept? I'm assuming something vaguely to do with pagan mythology, Slaine etc. and some Eldritch/HP Lovecraft?

You are, of course, welcome!

I found that summary to be a really good one!

Updates from the comments sections...

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 1 hour ago

A quick word on books and metals.

The books will be staggered over the next few days and probably into the next couple of weeks, if only because of postal bag limitations (one book weighs 1.9kg, and postal bags have a health and safety limit of 11kg)!

The metals will ship over the next few weeks. We've didn't get enough Wihtgar or Gabrax sets to fulfil our original order, but we should be getting those next week according to the caster. So most things will ship and it will only be because of either the Wihtgar or the Gabrax that your order is delayed.

As always - please be patient chaps and chappesses!

Pretty sure I'm waiting on both!

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 1 hour ago

Oh, and, regarding the metals, if you've not got enough shipment items, your order won't be sent of course.

On that note, we're only shipping the rule books outside of shipment items for projects up to Monstrous Mounts; anything after that will go if you have enough shipment items.

In the future, books won't be shipped without postage / shipment items.

Not explicitly actually, but I wouldn't like to jeopardise my chances of future exposure but violating an implicit assumption of secrecy!

That said, Rob has mentioned on the KS comments about Conand being involved in some capacity so you can draw your own conclusions about what kind of awesome stuff that might involve.

The thought has crossed my mind that we hadn't had any proper big fighty monsters for a while, and that a few more might galvanise more interest from proxy buying backers who weren't looking to play, just for big impressive centrepiece models for their existing fantasy games.

My shipment just updated to "packing," so hopefully that means I'm in on the first batch of Whitgar and won't have to wait.

Kind of frustrating on the rulebook shipping items, though. I was specifically told they would be shipping outside of model orders. Hopefully my stuff won't get helpd up overmuch.

New KS will launch as soon as KS 'approves' it.

MIGHTY MONSTERS?

Spoiler:

Given how might many of Mierce's monsters already are, I can only imagine what this means!

Well duh, yeah!

I was just wondering if this campaign would see the truly giant giants showing up.

I think this one is a 'short' campaign too - just over 2 weeks?

I'm anticipating the likes of Krull, Gomagg, Uuthall etc for the newer Kindreds as the main focus. Would make the most sense, as those trademark Mierce giants haven't been seen in a while that I can recall.

Good point - and now that you mention, I do seem to recall that that will indeed be the initial focus here, getting the "New Kindreds" their own Big Beasties!

With something for everyone sprinkled in too, of course...

I'm waiting until I have my starter sets and rulebooks before backing another KS as I don't want to spend the money if I don't like the game. Also I'm waiting for them to have a bit more coherency on their website for the game so after a demo I can say have a look on the website for the different starter sets to get you started instead of the confusion as it stands.

Still very excited for this.
