Mindless Spore Mine

So I've been playing and painting Warhammer since about 1998. I was in middle school at the time and started with Warhammer Fantasy around the age of 13. After some years went by I got more into 40k and sold most of my fantasy mini's. I still do love Mordheim though

I've recently gotten out of the United States Marine Corps and now have a lot more time for gaming and painting in particular. Painting and modeling has to be my favorite aspect of the hobby, so I've decided to put my stuff out there and see what comes of it. I would like to get into the commission game, as I've painted stuff for buddies for years. Painting is something I really just love to do and i would like to start small and slowly grow into more, and you can be a part of this journey. Posting step by steps and other painting articles would be something i would like to do for the community to pass on what ive learned over the years and give back to the hobby. Something like Youtube videos for the guides would not be out of the question but that's a more long term goal.

I would like to thank everybody on dakka and dakka it self for being a great place for all of us. I've been coming here for years to get inspired to paint or make new army lists or to check out the rumor mill. So below I've posted some my work. If you guys like it and want to see more stuff let me know. I've got a bunch more Blood Angels stuff that's finished and a few works in progress. I've got some Dark Angels stuff as well as a couple Mordheim warbands that I'm making for friends. So i could post some of these models in various stages as to show you my process.

The pictures below are what i would call my table top plus quality. More then just your basic paint job but not too much were you don't want to game with them.

Please Email me and comment below with any questions. Start small, dream big. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah the realistic style has always appealed to me, it being never ending war and all. I'll be sure to post some more photos in the future and show some things I'm working on.

Very convincing and beautiful models. Particularly nice plasma gun effects! Airbrush magick?

Really solid work. Your plasma effect is indeed great. I appreciate the fact that you didn’t make them clean. They appear dirty and battle worn. Which in my opinion isn’t easy to achieve and have it look right

Thank you for the comments. Its always nice to here feedback from other painters, I feel that's how we all get better.

@r3n3g8b0y- Yes the plasma effect is with an Airbrush. I just start with a middle tone blue and add white along the way. There is like 4 colors going up in shades. I tried to keep it tight with no too much over spray on the Primaris Marines. The Airbrush is a huge time saver for effects like this for me, as Wednesday are my "work" day for painting. I finished these models in two sessions.

@ ShadowCaptainMathius- I have been using a lot more pigments lately trying to expand my tool kit. I picked up some Vallejo ones and have been liking them a lot. I'll use them dry with just a brush or make-up sponge or ill mix them with some alcohol and make like a pigment wash that works really well on the bases. Yeah for me its hard to paint clean, before i weather models they just don't look finished to me.

Nice solid work. If I'm to be picky, Ultras look a little chalky here and there (bit too far with the zenithal airbrush work, maybe), could do with a thin blue ink glaze / wash work to bring the vibrancy back and fill some lines. That'd probably push the time/cost up a wee bit though.

@Winterdyne- Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I feel some of that effect is the lighting and photo work and some of it is getting into that batch painting mode when I'm cycling through 10+ models in the assembly line. Looked through your guys gallery, great stuff. The lizardmen diorama is filled with a lot of cool details. Great work!
