Hi all. I'm starting a new P&M blog to help organize my hobby time. My WAAAGH has grown a bit, but most of the new additions have been posted on the old blog. The thing is, I can't edit that one anymore, so here's this one. I'm gonna use this first post to track the progress of the different units. I'm gonna need a new camera too... I think. My old camera has long since died, and my phone's camera isn't that good. Anyhow, here's a list of ork units I'm working on, or have planned. I'll be detailing where each unit is in the process too.

Mekanicus
-Gutsnik(KFF): PIP
-Shakstof(SAG): assembled and ready for GS
-Mekaniak Nobz: PIP (3 Cybork Nobz)
-Mekaniak Nobz Battle Wagon: WIP (The cab is done for the most part, maybe some minor details. The trailer is built, but needs loads of customizing still)
-Grotarii: 20 grots and 1 "runtherd" are PIP while the second "runtherd" needs converting
-Squig Kanz: 4 WIP (3 are under construction and 1 is just cut out, all scratch built)
-Deff Kanz: these kanz are still in the planning and bits collecting stage. They are going to count as Krumpa's Killa Kanz, modeled after the Votom mech and others.
-Deff Dredz: Don't have any paint pots started, but I did pick up the body of a defiler. With one of the Tau guns in it's belly, it's a good start for a mek-dred.
-Mobile Kroot (counts-as stormboyz): WIP

Da Chapta WAAAGH
-Da InquisitOrk (Warboss): assembled and ready for GS neck
-2 Pain Boyz: assembled and ready for paint (mostly metal)
-10nf Krumpany (Snikrot's Redskullz): assembled and ready for paint
-Deffwing (Bully Boyz): 5 regular MANZ and 5 Termi-Nobz assembled with minor GS and detailing to do (5 MANZ to go)
-SternGard (Badrukk's Flashgitz): 5 assembled with minor detailing and GS to do. (15 Nob bodies waiting for arms/gunz and heads)
-Squigwing (Da Vulcha Skwad): 13 Stormboyz and 3 stormy nobz glued together. Zagstruk is mostly glued together, just needs legs...
-Shoota Boyz: This is a mixed group. Some are half painted, some only need small detailing/GS. It's a 30 boy skwad at this point including 3 big shootas (plus a nob).
-Hard Boyz: I've got 10 (including the nob) that need GS and some detailing and another ten that I'm still cleaning mold lines on. This group is going to get split into two skwads of 10 in forge world Warkoptas. Some of them are very tall models do to the basing, the idea being they are jumping out of the koptas.
-Tankbustaz: 11 Tankbustaz and a Nob are just about ready for GS and paint.
-Tankbustaz Wagon: I'm using a rhino as the base for this one. I think this one will count as a looted wagon with a canon. It's got a long way to go yet.
-Chapta Nob Skwad: minor detailing and PIP
-Nobz Battle Wagon: WIP (I'm using a land raider as the base for this one. It's got a ways to go still.)
-2nd ed Ghazskull: ready for paint (metal, and the shortest nob in the waaagh)
-Deff Dredz: 1 mostly assembled, with some detailing to do. One Dred waiting for it's base to be finished so I can pose it properly. I'm also collecting bits and working on a Meka-dred.
-Morkanaut: I've been working on the base, so I can pose the legs. Still need a lot of work on the head and arms, but the body is pretty close and the legs just need armour.
-Vehicles: I've got to rework my Looted Sawfish, but the piranha bits I've collected will be going toward a skewed of buggies. I've also got some "looted" trucks and battlewagons on the drawing board. The plan is for most of the elites and the hard boyz to have transports.

Bigtoof Localz
-Deff Towing Boss (Skalk Bluetoof): assembled and ready for paint (mostly metal)
-Deff Towing Lootaz: I've got 10 lootaz now (one or two still need deffgunz tho) and a few meds for the unit.
-Deff Towing Shoota Boyz: a couple boyz need details, mostly ready for paint
-Deff Towing Mad Boyz: Got my hands on enough old mad boyz models to make a min-boys mob (with a minder included). They just need some modded guns.
-Deff Towing Defensive Battery (men guns): 1 old metal canon ready for a new paint job and 2 WIP canons with almost enough grots and a runtherd ready for paint
-Deff Towing Trukks (buggies): 2 WIP
-Nork da Ork (Bigtoof Warboss): assembled, needs minor GS work
-Bigtoof Weirdboyz:2 painted, 1 to be painted
-Bigtoof Boyz: a few need detailing, mostly metal
-Bigtoof Grots: a mix of WIP and PIP, over 30 grot and 3(4) runtherds. the 4th runtherd is a commissar grot. This whole crew needs an overhaul though. I like the models I have but they don't mesh well with the fluffy bit of the army they are in. So, I'm thinking this group of units is gonna need a lot of GS rather than bits.
-Snakebite Warboss on Boar: minor detailing and GS
-Snakebite Shaman on Boar: ready for paint (mostly metal)
-Snakebite boarboyz: WIP

-Teenaged Mutant Ninja Orks: I had this brain storm to make a unit of kommandoz as the TMNT with the nob modeled after Splinter. It's an idea that scales up to a full sized army too, which I'm a bit worried about. But I still wanna make the one unit of kommandos. I've already got a perfect Splinter model, no conversion necessary, just need to GS four turtle shells.

-Lots of Meks (sub-HQ) running around

I did end up giving into the ambition of building a lot more of the Chapta than I had anticipated. Originally I was only going to have a few units from the reserve krumpanies assisting Gutsnik. Then the decision detachment thing started happening. The space marine one came out making it that much easier to organize the orks into Codex fashion. Finally, the works got our decurion and made it even easier to exemplify even more of the Chapta Waaagh (however over-costed). Well, I decided to shoot for the formations that matched up with some of the more famous space marine companies, with emphasis on the 1st and 10th krumpanies, as I had already amassed a hoard of commandos and found myself with a handful of flashgitz and MANZ. The Ravenwing/Squigwing conversion is potentially the cheapest of the lot so I'll tack them on as an after thought. The White Scars on the other hand are their own chapter, leaving me with the inclination to tie some of their themes into the Snakebite Boarboyz herd as it grows.

The Boarboyz and Bigtoof grots are taking a back seat right now, while I turn my attention and finances toward getting the Chapta to a point that I can call it done. I mean, the formations (not including the Vulchaz), the infantry, the vehicles, and the Mekanicus units. I have a lot of scratch building ahead of me, with all the vehicles. I've almost come to terms with how small the mopeds will be for the mobile kroot... it's sooooooo small, there's barely any modeling to be done, which means there's not a lot of opportunity for glueing. I dunno, it's gonna be weird. The Kroot are gonna get GS legs tho, that much will make it easier. I'll be giving them clothes instead of trying to bend and pin those skinny chicken legs into position.

=Edited in later=

Some counts-as for Orc units to Marine units... I know I've got this list somewhere else, I just can't find it this second.

Tactical Squads could be represented by Commandos rather well. The one drawback that I can see is that they don't have access to shootas. They do have the sergeant and 2 special/heavy weapons. Also Burnnas with multiple mekboys could be Veterans with power weapons and a few shooty options. On the other hand Nobs are already a great Counts-as for Vets... I suppose the Burna Boyz could stick to the commandos and counts-as Mekanicus orks. I am less familiar with the Mechanics units so I'm not sure which the Burnaz would fit best, but I know there are some glass hammers, so I'm sure there's something.

Thanks, tipios. I did try the back button, but I was pressing lots of buttons while impatiently waiting for it to load... I have been more lucky before.

I've added a few boyz and a Nob to my second skwad of shoota boyz. Here's a pic of the nob.

I used the base of the new painboyz hand and nervrackingly cut and glued the fingers together around the gun. The gun and hand are almost heavy enough to nock him over, so I think I'll put a washer under his base. Tho, the SM backpack and boss pole should help balance him out (once I've added them).

=EDIT=

Narrative development: In recruiting the Deff Towing mob into the Mekanorkus, Big Mek Gutsnik had to figure out some way to get the whole mob up to the fleet. He took the opportunity to test their metal one last time before allowing them into his space faring mekshop. He designed them a stompa that could be launched into space by a large enough explosion. Gutsnik instructed the Towing company to build and march the stompa into the closest hive city and sit it atop their geothermal vents until the pressure blows them skyward. And while most of the mob was doing that Gutsnik took his favorite megs in the bunch around back and teleported back to his ship.

I like this because it sets up a reason to include my ambitions for a hive city themed guard army with some space marine allies and loads of renegades/genestealer cultists in it. Previously the hive city was just part of the landscape in my head, but had no direct connection to my waaagh. I have finally thought up a rational to include the stompa and tie in the hive city narratively with my orks

So... a long time ago, while I still remembered my password for The Good Green account, I started talking about a Blood Axe Waaagh that modeled itself after Space Marines. I was just having fun with the fluff to give more background to my Big Men led army. Then GW released 7th edition and all those formations... which fit perfectly with my Orky Chapter organization musings. I couldn't resist putting together the minimum requirements for the formations that fit my fluff: Da Bully Boyz (still hunting for some top metal MANZ), Badrukk's Flashgitz, Da Vulchaz, and Snikrot's Kommandos. The MANZ started as Da Deffwing and then I modeled the Terminator armor Nobz and the one stood out to me as an Inquisitor type... so the fluff grew and the Inquisitork became one of the founding members of my Chapta Waaagh. Here is what the organization looks like so far, with many ork units being utilized for different battle field rolls in different Krumpanies. Some I am still on the fence about, like the Stormboyz being used as tactical boyz ever. The different rolls also impact the units size and load out (were options exist) such as the Kommandos. Were they count as Tactical boyz, there will be ten or more and they will most likely have one burna and one Rokkit or two big shootas, with a PK nob. As Devistators, the Kommandos would be min-squadded and have two rokkits, and a PK nob. As Assault boyz the squad size may vary, but they would always have two burnas for the power weapon attacks in CC. I'm still on the fence about the Kommandos being tactical boyz, though, partly because they can't have shootas and partly because they can't have 20 boyz. The Stormboyz can get 20 bodies, but they only have sluggas and choppas, not even any special weapons. So I may go with Shoota Boyz only for tactical squads, or I could minsquad Kommandos with two big shootas to get more fire power. I'm interested in what you think about it, and about the rest of the selections. For instance, should the Ravenwing/Squigwing krumpany have any trukk boys, or stick to biker boyz?

Krumpanies: Main theme units
1st - MANZ (Deffwing) and Flashgitz (Sternguard)

2nd - Speedfreakz on wheelz (Squigwing)
Trukk Boyz (tac/dev)
Biker Boyz/Nobz (assault/command)
Warbuggies(devastators/assault)
Battlewagons (tac/dev)
3rd - Speedfreakz in the air (Ravenguard/Shrike)
Warkopta Boyz (tac/tankbustaz)
Stormboyz (tac/assault)
Kommandos "drop pod" (tac)
Deffkoptaz(devastators/assault/command)
4th - Drop pod based krumpany (can all these units still deep strike?)
Kommandos (tactical)
Stormboyz (assault)
Deffkoptaz (devastators)
Warbuggies (devastators)
5th - My krumpany
Shoota boyz (tac)
Warkopta'ard boyz (assault)
Lootaz (dev)
Tankbustaz (dev)
6th - Shoota boyz and their toys
7th - Shoota boyz and their toys
8th - Sluga boyz and their toys
9th - Lootas and Tankbustas
10th - Kommansos "Da Kreepin Flames"

The 5th Krumpany represents the units I have been focused on assembling. Many of the orks are done, with many also waiting for final details and GS work. I got them mostly assembled then switched my focus over to vehicles, as I was enjoying building the Orkanaut and several dreds and kanz, all of which are still in progress. I started making paper-craft looted-rhinos to count as trukks. More recently I have been wanting to see more finished models, so I am going to pack up the vehicles and get my orks ready for painting. I'll be getting some WIP pics of the vehicles before I put them away tho. Those may be here later today... if not, over turkey break.

Please let me know what you think of the unit choices above, or if you have any suggestions for alternatives. You may notice the Warkoptas in the 5th krumpany, I am open to Fordge World units for the Chapta. Thanks for reading.

Here are some pics. Ive got the walkers that are WIP enough to take a picture of.

Here's my Dakka Dred. I'm using left over dred arms for the legs on the Dunecrawler hips.

The gorkanaut has a head and forearms in the works. I think I need to reposition his hips a bit before I attach the waist. I'm still figuring out his claw, too.

The shooter boyz need a little bit of detailing and very minimal GS gap filling. The four boyz in the front rows are the "special" boyz. Two are the big shootas and the other two have extra character so I'm going to advisors and medics for the nobs of each mob. It'll show more in the painting... if I'm any good at least.

So one mob needs a lot more space marine gear (shoulder pads and backpacks) and the other needs more glue. I'm excited to be switching my focus over to finishing models (instead of building an army) after all these years. I am still working out the plan for the rest of Da Chapter, but I'm gonna try to stay focused on finishing the units I've started, rather than building new ones.

Thanks for reading.

I've got a couple messy pics to represent my progress over the holliday. I got the shotta Boyz all glued in and based. So I started finishing off my tankbustaz... got them mostly glued in. There's one ork that needs a lot of GS on his legs so he's getting glue later. I did some work on the lootaz as well, getting only a little work done on them. The meltagunz and plazmagunz need wires and the 'eavy boltaz need something a bit more for the dakka channels. At any rate, I'm very excited to be closer to the GS stage of my work for the horde. One of the tankbustaz is done up to fit in with the 'ard Boyz squad, if you can spot him... he's got a chin strap. There's only blue-tac on one Tankbusta now, and none on the shooter boyz.

Thanks for reading

I finally wired up the looted devastator guns. I've just got the two heavy bolder ammo tracks to figure out. But now most of the lootaz just need a shoulder pad. I'm thinking about picking up a devastators box to fill this squad and the tank bustaz unit out a bit. I may just go for the guns on ebay. I like the idea of a grot cherub too tho. Anyhoo, here's a picture of the four Boyz with their new wires.

So they need shoulder pads (one each) and I want to add damage and repairs to the guns and packs... but not a lot.

Thanks for reading.

I just added a few smaller details to the guns and backpacks. Some of the boyz got their shoulder pad. I managed to get one of the Heavy Bolter boyz bullet feed hooked up with minimal gap-filling and GS coverup needed. The glue may fill it in enough with some paint, if I'm lucky. So he is all glued in like most of the other lootaz. The other heavy bolter is the only one that's not glued in. I may switch the feed out for a large magazine, but I'm not sure yet. I'm still toying with the idea of modeling the feed as broken and using the "Orks believe and it works" line for him. Anyhoo, here's a couple pics of the bigger guns. The other three haven't changed much.

I'm thinking the skull on the gun, middle top pic, will get an cyber-eye bit like the skull in the hair. Maybe turn it into a looted servo skull. The back side of these guys is fairly un-imbelished so far. I'm thinking some welded panels on the backpacks and a few grenades on the belts, glyphs here and there.

Lemme know what you think, and thanks for reading.

So I finished modeling the looters, and quickly thought of a few more I could make. Instead of starting work on them, I started going through my paints to see if any were still useable. All of my Vallejo paints were good to go with a bit of shaking, while most of my GW paints had dried up entirely. A few GW paints are still in great condition, however. Go figure. So I primed the Tankbustas and the rest of my first unit of Shoota Boyz. I through in some squids for good measure.

I also finished the treads on the first of 6 paper craft looted rhino. I'm going to use them as trukks, they're made of paper... get it? The template didn't have enough treads for all of the pads on the tracks, so I made some using a couple orc glyphs and cut enough to fill the gap.

I stumbled onto Kiblams youtube channel while he has been working on an awesome Necromunda vertical table. He uses a Silhouette Portrait cutting machine to get the same plasticard shapes over and over again. So I'm gonna get one of those to finish off the Looted Rhinos, as well as other projects on my list. It's not the cheapest thing in the world, but it's not as expensive as GW kits for how much I'm gonna get out of it. I've also got to restock some paints tho. All of my greens are dry.

I also got some green stuff work started on my 'ard Boyz. Most of them need shoulders before I can even put a shoulder pad on them... some had just enough upper arm to not need GS.

So my plan moving forward is to paint and when I don't feel like painting I'll sort bits to clean my work bench.

Hell yea. Love the kitbashing and conversion. Everything looks really good. The storm boys pic is one of my favorite. But damn good job sir. I’m a big ork player as well but have put my mob on hold since I fell into AOS. But looking at this makes me want to get it all back out.

Thanks you guys!

I've not got much to report. I base coated the cloth and metal black. I'm going to dry brush the clothes, but I haven't worked up the nerve yet. Then I'll clean them up and add the reds and blues, since those are the colors I have. I need to get a few new paints before I can start on the skin. Also, I knew it would be difficult, but painting the chests behind the guns sucks. This was the major flaw in my building so many before painting. Hopefully I'll learn my lesson... before I start building my necromunda stuff, or any more orks. (I have a bag of biker bits calling to me)

Here's a pic of my slow work

@insaniak: I did play around with it like a vehicle for a while after it was together. That angle may fade once the barrels are in place, alas.

@schank23: Glad I could give you some inspiration.

Thanks for coming by and saying hi, you guys. I hope to have more to show in the coming month. Until next time, WAAAAAAAGH!!

Well, I got that whole skwad painted a bit past base coat level and lost steam. Life got kinda hectic and I had trouble pulling my focus toward the painting table.

The reason I'm posting now is I just build a counts-as Grotsnik, or just a sweet Painboy to get around the clans, since I plan to run my army as blood axes. I'm super happy about how he turned out. Here's some pics

I also started work on a manager for the green skin blood bowl players, and a few more cyborks for my mekaniak noble skwad. They are turning out a lot smaller than the ones I've already made so I'm having second thoughts about them. I'm not happy enough with them to get pics yet.

Anyhoo I hope you like my new Painboy. I sure do.
