Anyone got any pics of Zvezda models? They're the cheap russian toy company that's annoyingly difficult to track product down from. All of their stuff just has box paintings instead of models. This is the companies home page:

Zvezda is very hit or miss in quality, and a LOT of it is re-boxed or re-tooled Italeri kits. My local shop also carries a lot of it as well as a good amount from Eastern Express. Expect a good amount of flash on the sprues, and sometimes the plastic can be very flaky to work with.

Which kits are you looking for info on? There are a few reviews on Track-Link.net and some on Cybermodeler.com but some of the reviews aren't very readable.

Mainly because my sense of humor is as bad as my skill at this game.

I ordered the cursed legion box for www.squadron.com. I don't have any pics, but I can answer any questions about that kit. They are smaller than GW's skeletons and they have alot of small pieces. The feet were seperate! The quality on this kit is pretty good, but I have heard they are not consistant across the line.

Actually, Crimson Devil, the problem comparing Zvezda models to GW is that Zvezda models use realistic scales. GW models use cartoom scale for their models. Big hands and feet in particular. The Cursed Legion is a great box set. I've reworked the proportions a bit (mainly by using green stuff to make them stand a little taller on their base) and they fit in with most GW models. The best results, for the skeletons, is to mix and match GW with Zvezda bits. That's not trivial, but with skeletons you get a lot of flexibility.

You're right that the Zvezda skeletons come in a LOT of pieces. They are a pain to stick together, but well worth the effort.

I got the Zvezda orc boxed set, and was not so pleased.

Ed,

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Abington Game and Hobby has a couple of the kits. I can drop by on the way home and take a look.

I have one of their castles, which while a bit small for LotR, and fairly small for WHFB is very nice, flexible, and easy to work with.  Of course, like the majority of my projects, it is in a box "for later", but I could take some pictures if you are interested in going that route.

I figure you could get something the same table space as the GW fortress for $80, and it would be much more detailed, with more towers, doors, and other elements.

Yoor Speeshawl too Gawd!

Ed I have a site that shows their models assembled and painted.  It is in russian and you have to look at the url that shows in the bottom to see what you are actually looking at. One warning they are evidently running their server on old surplus 1950 Russian supercomputers because it loads slower than a certain gameing website does on occasion.

They are a mixed bag the Zombies are nice as are some of the other minis some are just crap but as poften as i see 20 plastic models for 5 bucks from them I won't complain.

Planet of Dakka

i buy them all the time in russia(its the only modelling i get there) and i can tell you that they -are- highly inconsistent.
Bought a BMP.beautiful model,small bitz,good left overs(for alternative model or extras),good quality transfers.
Scale was good, rubber tires, working turning wheels.Every thing you want

Bought a Su 37 Berkut....eeeerr....plain.not plane.PLAIN.no details what so ever and building it was more of a pain than putting together a 67 Mustang by hand an a 1:1 scale.with boxing gloves.
