Hello everyone, my name is Mike, or FabricatorGeneralMike on pretty much all 40k sites.

I decided a while ago to get back into 40k with a good friend of mine but we both hated games workshop for what they have done to 40k in the last 10-15 years. We both vowed to NEVER buy from GW again....the good thing is Forgeworld doesn't count for this . So we both decided to do 30k armies. We picked up a set of BaC each ( I got two because....reasons...) and went along our merry way.

Well...he cheated and dipped his 1k sons so hes done his box already. He picked up a Cerastus Knight-Lancer , some Thallax and some automata in the mean time while I've procrastinated about how I want to do my yellow for my Fists.

I've done a few different yellows and still really have not found one I'm totally happy with. I am still using a brush to paint, but next month is my birthday and I last time I talked to my mom about it she said hold off on getting your Airbrush......hint hint hint.... Love you mom

I've kinda sorta written up a army list but at the moment I'm really just wanting to put together some cool FW models and make a 'Fisty Feeling Army' ( og that sounded bad, nothing to see here moving right along....)

So, I guess you want to see the pic porn...I mean the resin crack, I mean army pics.. I want to do a ship theme for the bases for the battle of phall....

This is my first guy, hes just a normal Sgt from the old command squad box in 3rd edition I believe. I love the yellow on him but it was like 6 or 7 layers to get that colour. That would take WAYYYY to long to do a whole army of....

I'm still trying to figure out how to size and attach pics.. so please bear with me on this, it might be ugly for the first while until I get comfy with it..... and success!!!

This is my Techmarine, again I like the yellow, again way to much work for a lazy painter like me....

My libby....as you can see I like the older models a lot....

The dread....this guy I used a dullcoat then put the decals on him, I think it turned out alright...

This is the first squad I test painted, I don't like the orangey yellow on them, I think I'm going to paint some of their armour grey and leave a arm and helmet yellow and say they are vets of the Unification Wars on Terra, as I don't want to strip them or prime them again....(choices choices...)

This is the mess at the moment, the GF says "Michael you are a piggy-poo....and yes...yes I am dear.... aka the painting desk...

This is the BaC chappy I converted up. I want at least one 10 man squad of breachers, I don't know if this guy will be a Preator, a Centurion, squad Sgt or what. I just felt the need to convert him up.

Oh...what this...??

Well if you are going to kill Iron Warriors at Phall you need someone to lead them with some style I reckons...

I don't know where I want to go with this army. I was thinking of doing a Drop Pod Assault, but then I'm missing out on all the cool looking toys from FW like the demos pattern Rhino's, Predators, Super Heavies like the Glave ( I REALLY want a glave cause....reasons...) I think I really need to sit down and write a good list up. See what I need to order from our good friends Forgeworld and just make it happen.

Cost will be a factor, I work Construction (I am a Ironworker by trade) and I do OK but with the weak Canadian Dollar (C$) against the UK Pound (£)... I guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it. It's the same deal with the airbrush. I've been thinking of picking up a cheap 50$ one just to base coat the models....but "She who must be obeyed" hasn't given her blessing yet to it. So we wait and see.

Thank you for looking all comments from 'Your crap sucks Mike!" to "Wow yellow you sick sick bastard" to "TLDR cool story bro" are welcome. If any other fists out there have a good yellow recipe kicking around please post it here or PM me so I can try it out.

I can be really random in what I'm converting, painting, working on so there might/will be a random assortment of stuff.

Be well Dakka.....

Blows of the dust....

Hello again everyone, Yes I am back, I just don't know when to quit.

Work has kicked the feth out of me this month and I really haven't got much done. I did get a airbrush and I did finish off my Fists drop pod. This was the first time I used a airbrush. I am not really happy with it. I feel like I should of just left it instead of doing "just a little more". Oh well lesson learned I guess. This was also the first time I really tried to do weathering on it. I did the sponge method for the weathering. Over all I am happy with it. I feel like I did a little to much but well at least I know for next time

I also put together a friends Domiator which I am going to convert into the one with the whip and jump pack

The plan is to use some wire to make the whip and use some plastic tubes to make the jump pack

Also my next months pledge for the dakka painting this is either the INQ scale Witch Hunter Tyrus or Brother Capt Atrimus

I really am on the fence about which one to do....I would like to finish off the GS on the brother capt...as I am converting BC Artimus from mk VII to mk VI as I love beakies... but the WH INQ would be kinda fun to do also because of the free hand I would love to try on him....choices choices choices...

I am really one the fence

I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed converted and painting these I sculpted the IF fist...im not happy with it, but well you got to start somewhere I guess...ill upload the mechanicum assembly pics after this

Well hello there, its been a silly busy month so I didn't get much done just this Leviathan Dreadnought. I think it came out rather well. I like the yellow I got on it. I feel like I'm getting better at weathering and I actually like the job I did on this one. I am also rather happy with the way the decals came out. I did the gloss coat, decals, weathering, then another gloss coat and then dull coat.

I kept the base simple because I think I'm going to keep all my Fists bases simple. Also the finished model isn't this glossy, dunno why it came out this glossy in the pics ( shrugs) but its got a nice matt finish on it IRL.

I really enjoyed this model. FW did a great job on the model it's self altho this cast wasn't the best. I wish FW was a little more consistent in their casts but that is neither here nor there.

Just stumbled across this PLOG, love to see older models come back from the dead to be used again.

Well done on yellow, which is always a hard colour to paint. I tended to do a Bubonic Brown base (afraid I am not sure what it is called now) and then I only required one thin coat of Yellow and that made it less bright.

Bravo on your greenstuff work with those Marines and their heads and shoulder badges.

Cheers,

CB

Thank you, I do love the old space marine models. They just ooze character I think.

I think ill do a test run with a brown base coat, anything to reduce steps would be welcomed.

It was really my first time using GS on a large scale there. Mostly I used GS to fill gaps on metal models, so it was nice to mess around.

Bubonic Brown was a very light brown, so you would need to check the paint comparison chart to see what it is called now.

HI everybody!!!....Hi Dr Nick!... heh I always wanted use that as a opening to a blog post.

So after I got the supply drop and washed everything that I had ( there is still some more coming like a Storm Eagle, the shoulder joint to the Knight Castigator so I can finish it) I decided to work on the Warhound titan first because reasons.

I got the feet and legs together over two days. The toes are all pinned, so many pins and so much drilling but the whole weight of the titan would be on that join so it needed to be reinforced. The lower legs got pinned to the bottom of the foot just for more stability. My friend who I am putting this together for didn't want a base made for it but I talked him into it so I could attach it for more stability because if I didn't no matter how much I weight it it would still topple over.

left foot I made it so it looked like it was walking and just taking a step.

Right foot I did flat so I had a large surface area to attach it to the base.

The scale shot of both legs attached at the hips. I still need to do the little fine detail work like the pistons etc etc etc.

The top hip assembly. I got the power drill out and drilled out two holes about 4 inches long so I can run a screw from the outer leg right into the mid section as it's just a ball and socket join that is holding the whole weight of the main body of the titan. I also need to magnetize the top and bottom of the torso so it can be separated for travel and storage.

The scale shot.

The guy who I am doing this for just wants the main body and the head just glued shut. I've been trying to tell him dude this is a Titan do the fething interior but he's just thinking about the cost of the painting.....so...what I am going to talk to him when he gets back from Mexico (fether it must be nice! ) is to run some LED's into the head unit and the main body. As this is going to be a Iron Warrior titan ( he had a 30/40k Iron Warrior army) I want to do the LED's red for that nice demonic effect. I want to put some clear plastic card over the eyes so the red shines through and bleeds through any gaps on the main body.

So that's the progress so far. I also assembled my other friends Voss Lightening for him. He want's me to magnetize the missiles so I am just waiting for the magnets to get here (same for the Titan.).

And so it begins. But the pinning of the feet and lower legs is critically important.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.

Thanks CB. The bottom feet are totally pinned, each toe section, the ankle going into the foot, the knee section and thigh, and on the hips I drilled 1/4" screws (maybe bigger, I just looked into the odd and sods bin and picked two screws that matched and looked long enough to go into the mid section) into it for the extra support.

On the main body I have pinned EVERYTHING together to first, give it more support and second to try and straighten the cast out. The Warhound is a old old model and the molds must be junk and near the end of their lives. There was so many mis-casts that I had to sand down but left gaps that I have to fill with green stuff.

Now don't get me wrong I LOVE the model and the kit, its just not a very friendly kit to put together, but then again most FW stuff isn't very friendly. I really really enjoy the modeling and assembly side of this the best. Maybe it's because I work construction IRL but I like building things.

Basically I have the main assembly put together, and now its time to fill the gaps and put the gubbins on ( and leave a few pieces off like the leg armour so it can be painted properly). But who wants to read me rambling on....PICS!

This is what I had done this morning.

This is what I finished off with tonight before bed time (yes I should be in bed...but Titan porn yum yum yum)

The legs are assembled, screwed and pinned I just need to cut and fit all those bloody pistons for the toes and ankles.

The main body is assembled and pinned, I need to fill the gaps and talk my friend into putting a LED set into the main body as it wants it all glued shut, The head is cleaned up ( with no crew :( ) and I want to put clear plastic card on the eyes so again the red led's will bleed through.

The Weapons are complete I need to sand the top flat and countersink a magnet into the joint there so the weapons can be taken off.

There is still a lot to do and this is where I feel that a lot of people start to slow down as the main excitement of assembly is done and now it down to the fiddly bits. I can't wait to get at it tho and get this all done so I can move onto other stuff like the WW scorpious and the Fire Raptor I have waiting to assemble for him.

Thank you for the posts CB it's always nice to talk to another Canadian especially one close by

Blows off some more dust...wow, it's been a while. I got onto a video game kick for a while ( Crimzon Clover, Dodonpachi, Dodonpachi Saidujo, Touhou, basically bullet hell games and DDO Dungeons and Dragons Online) but I burnt out on them and decided to get back into modeling. I decided I didn't want to do yellow marines... ugh what was I thinking?

So I decided to do a Mechanicum army

I am kinda torn on what to do, I love me some Ordo Reductor, but I also love me some Cerastus Knights ( I have two a Atropos and a Archaeron with a Propheryon on the way) I also do like me some god machines so I bought a Warhound titan. I am doing my Mechanicum army in the Xana II scheme ( it just looks fantastic I reckons) and the bone and grey-black looks fantastic so far I reckons. I have picked up 12 Thallax with Photon-Thrusters, 20 Adsecular with Las locks, a Kiros Venator, Imperial Bombard, a Voss pattern Primarus Lightening, magos with rad thingy from FW.

I am going to see Akira on the big screen tonight, so I'll have pics up later or tomorrow.... FW Mechanicum is just a Fantastic army to assemble and paint.

Hello everybody, if you are fan of the movie Akira and you get a chance to see it on the big screen...GO AND DO IT! It was amazing.

Here are some new pics of what I have been working on.

This is my friends Iron Warrior titan that you can see pics of me assembling earlier in the blog. I didn't paint it but I think the paint turned out alright.

This is my Titan, I haven't thought of a name for him yet. My 1 year old Granddaughter calls him "woof woof" and while I am going to think of some pompous faux latin name for him his true name in his Machine Core will be Mr Woof Woof ( I think I might cut a piece of bronze sheet I have and inside the leg armour I will either paint on the bronze or in-grave Mr Woof Woof.) Mr Woof Woof is fully magnetized on the main body ( 12mmx4mm) and the arms and head ( 12mmx2mm) rare earth magnets. The void sheld generators are also on magnets (2mmx1mm).

I didn't like the eagle and rivets on top so I took them off and make a X out of plastic card for Xana II.

This is my Atropos, I am really happy with the way he came out. The FW House Malinax transfer sheet is just fantastic.

This is my Acheron, I am REALLY happy with the way the paint and decal's came out. I did the paint, then laid down a gloss coat then did the weathering decals then did a dullcoat on it and you can't even see the decal edges. Again I am really happy with him

This was my first time trying to do a heat destressed effect on the edge of the flamer. You really can't see it but on the tip I have a nice blue/metal effect going on and I liked the way the blending on the heat effect came out on the cowling. I need to pick up some more inks so it blends better but it's a good start I reckons.

These are the first three Thallax I painted up to test the scheme. I added a paint on gloss to get the shiney effect on the face plates. I am thinking about trying to source out a bit seller who sells FW bits as the Archmagos Draykavac model I put together for a friend has a nice bovine skull head that I think would look aces for a Thallax head.

This is my Venator, it's a bitch of a model to get to look good...but damn its a nice model. I was blown away with all the detail in the pilot cockpit area. It's a amazing forgeworld model. This is painted and gloss coated and just waiting for weathering/decals then a dullcoat.

This is my bombard as I'm planning on doing a ordo reductor list.

This is my Primarus Lightening. I needed a flier and I put one together for a friend so I decided to pick one up. I magnetized all six missles with a little 2mmx1mm magnet then I put a piece of paper clip on the wing mount and it works just fine This is just base coated and no where near done. I don't like the GW flying base so I just took two pieces of brass rod, drilled a hole where the normal stand would go and stuck the rod through. I then had a hollow brass tube which I stuck the brass rod into so I can take it apart for transport.

Well I guess that's all for now. I have a ton of stuff yet to do. I still have 9 more Thallax to do. I have 20 Adsecular to assemble and paint. I have a Acastus Knight Porphyrion in the mail. I also have two turbo lasers coming for Mr Woof Woof.

This is a Xiphon I put together for a friend. It took about a half hour from start to finish, it's a nice little model.

I really dig the bone/grey black paint scheme Mark Bedford came up with. It's easy to paint and it looks fantastic. The fluff for my army will either be shortly after founding Xana II and this Taghmata is on the way to the Rangdan Xenocides, or just coming back from Rangdan Xenocides. I would like to add some Legion honour marks on Mr Woof Woof ( First legion for sure, white scars as I can see them loving something like Xenocide Once I have these finished up I will repost with better pics and some fluff for the army.

Thanks for looking I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed assembling and painting these models.

Hello everyone, just some quick update photo's of Mr Woof Woof ( sorry about the crappy pics, phone blah blah)

Here is the Xana X that I cut out of plastic card for the top carapace I think it turned out alright

Here are the foot pistons, I can't wait to get to weathering on them. The metal looks fantastic when the light hits it

I blocked in the base coats for the bone and the dark grey trim, yes it's messy, yes it will be fixed, yes the God Machine will Walk.

Hope you like. This is a fantastic kit altho I wish I could find a Lucius as I like it better then the Mars Pattern. Oh well. The God Machines will walk.
