I played some 40k when I was younger, but never really put much thought into actually coming up with a decent army (I'd just put whatever units I thought looked cool in until I got to the point maximum for that particular game), and I've recently gotten back into it. I heard that the DE are generally considered a huge pain to make lists for, so I accepted that challenge. I'm making this list for 1000 point games.

HQ
Archon W/ huskblade, shadowfield - 125 (with the group of four incubi in their venom)

Troops (pretty much solely anti-tank) - 470
Kabalite Warriors X20 (two w/ dark lance and two w/ Splinter cannon) - 230
Raider X2 W/ Dark lance and enhanced aethersails - 240

Elites (having both these groups use their transport to get up close before disembarking for assaulting, with cannons as a means of tearing through infantry during the early game) - 335
Incubi X5 (upgrade one to klaivex with demiklaives) - 125
Venom (Replace rifle with cannon) - 65
Incubi X4 - 80
Venom (Replace rifle with cannon) - 65

Fast attack
Venom (Splinter cannon) - 65

I'm 95% sure what I came up with is garbage, so any advice would be appreciated

It’s a list full off nice stuff, but a few tweaks could really help it become dirty.

Example (because, who needs friends)

Archon – Blaster, Haywire Grenades, Venom 2x Cannon – 145

3 Incubi – Klaivex, Venom 2x Cannon – 135
3 Incubi – Klaivex, Venom 2x Cannon – 135
3 Incubi – Klaivex, Venom 2x Cannon – 135

5 Kabalites – Venom 2x Cannon - 105
5 Kabalites – Venom 2x Cannon - 105

5 Scourges – 4 Heat Lance – 120
5 Scourges – 4 Heat Lance – 120

Archon being T3 is an easy STW for opponents, I tend to use him and a Great BS shooter with a blaster for extra AT. Venom adds anti infantry poison death (the case across the board)
Incubi in 3’s with a Klaivex are great little units that pack good ap2 punch. Bear in mind the Klaivex has the rampage rule, so being outnumbered is a good thing for you, especially considering your high initiative.
Kabalites are there to make the list legal and claim objectives, nothing more imho. There are far better platforms for AT weaponry. Venoms again for mobility and fire power.
Scourges are where AT is at for me. 120 points for 4 str6 ap1 lance and melta weapons. That can either move fast or deep strike? YES PLEASE!!!
