Hello all. I wanted to make this post for 2 reasons.

First is to share my good luck today (and maybe brag a little ) But I promise there is another reason at the end,

I took a chance and bought a box of WHF figures from a local gamer. I saw some kind of blurry pics online, and I could identify some KotR, MaA, bowmen, and a trebuchet. He also said that there was some more random figures in the box. He had bought the lot a couple years ago from a friend and had just never done anything with it. While I'm pretty set on troops, I decided to buy everything just for the trebuchet. Imagine my surprise when I get home to inspect it more closely and find the following:

Green Knight (metal, slightly modified but in pretty good shape)
Mounted Enchantress (metal)
Mounted Lord (metal, the one with the dragon shield and lance)
Mounted Standard Bearer (metal)
Damsel on foot (metal)
2 of the very OOP metal knights on foot
23 KotR
19 MaA
12 Bowmen
6 Mounted Yeomen (metal)
3 Pegasus Knights
Trebuchet (metal with all the crew and extra bits)

All of this together could sell for over $500 if you have the time and patience to find the right buyers or deal with ebay. And I paid less than $100! I really lucked out. Plus I got a nice foam filled case for them as well.

I'm probably going sell or trade off most of the characters, as I already have them (if you are interested, PM me). But I am extremely happy with the KotR, mounted yeomen, and my new trebuchet.

Second reason for making this thread: what about you dakka? Any amazing WHF (or other gaming) finds over the years? Does anyone have a story to top this one?

My best is that I once got a Grimgor for free in a box of black orcs someone was selling for half off new price. I was pretty stoked at the time.

I don't think I've ever even seen the metal mounted yeoman before. Neat stuff!

Can't say I've had any amazing finds like this myself; the place I live right now doesn't even have a shop selling miniatures within 100+ miles.

1,000 pts of High Elves in a box of Dark Eldar that my brother picked up for $40, and the DE stuff consisted of two Raiders, 5 jetbikes and around 40 warriors.

Had a few good finds over the years.
Best was a few weeks ago though.

Big box on eBay titled wargames space marine small models.
Won it for £32

Inside was 2 imperator titans both on sprue, one of which had the metal warmonger upgrade kit.
All imperial data cards.
And around 10k of epic imperial guard, most of which being metal tanks.

Needless to say I was happy.
Kept the warmonger set and sold most of it so far for around £250 once I'd broken it down to units.

All are great findings. Really jealous of that Bretonnian deal.

I managed to find a Tomb Kings Battalion box, Warsphinx/Necrosphinx, Skeleton Warriors box, Necrotect (finecast), and Liche Priest (finecast) along with the army book -- all new in box - for $75.

That's an incredibly sweet deal!

Today I got a box of Empire Greatswords for $15 because somebody bought it, took the bases, and snipped out a banner. Since I have plenty of bases (I bought more just because) and I intend to convert/use them for Mordheim, that was a steal.

A person in our local warhammer group selling 4 armies, Ultramarines $400, Tyranids $400, and orcs and goblins $300, in addition to the army I bought.

* When I agreed to buy these I didn't know about these till got home and started comparing it to the list of things that were on it.

A friend of mine from the group also got a sweet sweet deal for $40 from a coworker.
He pretty much got 3 armies 5th edition stuff mostly of Empire, High Elves and Bretonnia. He also just gave me the Bretonnia since that is my first army. The Empire and High Elves are I think roughly 1500 to 2500 pts worth of points. The stuff given to me was: Metal questing knights, some 5th edition special characters that were not reprinted in 6th army book, damsel, Grail Knight command, 24 archers, about 20-30 knights in blisters plus given skinks on cold one from dogs of war.
