So I mainly play dark angels but have decided to step out of my comfort zone and look at the Blood Angels, mainly the Death Company. I'm trying to come up with a list that would be fun to play but is still playable so I don't get beat down every game. So far this is a list i've come up with.
Death Company Strike Force - 730 points total
DC Chaplain - 150 points
---Gilded Crozius, Warlord
---DC Dreadnought - 170 points
---- Blood Talons, Drop Pod
Death Company Squads
---Squad 1 - 140 points
----Jump Pack, 1 x Power Fist (boltgun), 4 x Chainsword/Bolt Pistol
---Squad 2 - 140 points
----Jump Pack, 1 x Power Fist (boltgun), 4 x Chainsword/Bolt Pistol
---Squad 3 - 140 points
----Jump Pack, 1 x Power Fist (boltgun), 4 x Chainsword/Bolt Pistol
Lion's Blade Strike Force
---Assault Squad - 115 points
---- 2 x flamers
---- Rhino
---Devastator Squad - 175 points
---- 2 x Grav Cannon
----Rhino
--- HQ - 90 points
---- Chaplain
---Tactical Squads
---- Squad 1 - 140 points
---- 1 x Grav Cannon
---- Rhino
---- Squad 1 - 140 points
---- 1 x Grav Cannon
---- Rhino
---- Squad 1- 140 points
---- 1 x Grav Cannon
---- Rhino
Auxiliary Choice
---Ravenwing Support Squadron
----Ravenwing Darkshroud - 80 points
----Ravenwing Landspeeder x 3 with HB, TML - 225 (75 points per model)
The Idea is to drop the Dreadnought in turn 1, maybe pop a vehicle and draw a little fire. If he last till turn two I'd be surprised but this is the only way I know to make him at least somewhat useful just because I doubt he'd make it across the field just walking and I don't have the points/models for anything else. I'd use the rhino's as a gun line to screen the DC as they move up by blocking LOS as much as possible. I'm running grav heavy because i really like the versatility but also because they have concussive. I figured with that many grav shots rolling around I should be able to cause some damage to things like Wraith Knights and what not so that they don't kill my power fist before he can attack.
The RWSS is there to add a little more AT ability. I'm having trouble deciding on their load out though. I i've settled for this right now but I plan to move them up with the rhinos so that the rhinos get a 4+ cover save from the stealth and shroud making them more survivable. The LS would be a little behind the rhinos blasting stuff and possibly even intercepting some deep striking stuff AND models having to shoot through all the other models would give them a 3+ cover save without even jinking.
If y'all don't mind let me know your first impressions of the list, thoughts, comments, etc. I really appreciate the advice!
