Hi guys,

Another attempt at blood angels now that I think I understand the new rules better, please please let me know if I have something wrong! My plan is to only have my Spartan assault tank down turn 1 to "tank" the damage, and hopefully everything else arrives turn 2.

death company command:
death company chaplain:
death company strike force:
death company chaplain:
2x5 DCw/JP
1x 12 DC (in spartan)
1 DC dread+drop pod:

archangels orbital intervention force : held in reserve, 1 roll for all, can disordered charge when land.
5x Assault Terminators
5x Assault Terminators
5x Assault Terminators

allied detachment:
Scout squad:
Karlaen (gives re rolls of all reserves )
Spartan assault tank

On board: Just spartan with 12 DC +Karlaen. I think this is legal and also the best strategic move? I think if I leave the DC on the table to start they will get shot off the board? Can the scouts start in reserve too? Any other thoughts or advice would be great I have not played in 2 years!

Spartan [ 12DC+Karlaen]
5xDC w/ JP + Chaplain (reserve)
5xDC w/ JP + Chaplain (reserve)
1 DC dread in pod (reserve)

I don't like the DC in reserve. They can't charge until turn three at the earliest. The termies don't suffer from that as they can charge the turn they arrive. Also, the lost brotherhood lets JP DC charge turn one.

Hey thanks for response! Ya I know I get the free 6 inch move but I figured those units would get destroyed turn 1. (My other army is necrons and I know that I would shred these guys). I am thinking of scrapping the spartan and going all infantry to bring more targets to the table). Do you think that is better?

That's definitely what I would do. Also, try to get 1 power fist per 5 dc, and give those ones bolters as they're, it's an extra shot and you won't get an extra attack for 2 ccws anyway.

Another point is Karlaen can't be your warlord if he is in an allied detachment can he? That means you are missing out on his warlord trait to influence reserve rolls... just a thought.

It doesn't really matter if Karl can be wl in an allied detachment because said detachment is illegal. He can't take an allied detachment of ba when his primary detachment is also ba. I would have pointed that out earlier but I misread it and didn't actually realise it was an allied detachment.

Also it seems like everyone plays at 1850 nowadays? This new list comes to 1850, what else could I add/change to make this competitive at 1850/2000? I own all these models but could buy something additional. Also I can place the ADL in the middle of the field right? So my scouts can advance way up to it using the formation bonus? Hopefully the big DC squad with improved FNP can survive till turn 2 for the terminators to deep strike down using the homer. Would it be better to combine the 5 TH/SS I can afford into 1 unit of 2+ hunters? Thanks!
