Who loves to see crazy nordic space barbarians with a wolf fetish? Who loves to see green space orks ready to rip the world in half and the ork next to him just for kicks? If you don't, why are you still reading this?!

Hey dakka, this is a blog about my two favorite (and only) armies. I picked up the hobby about two years ago and never looked back. I'm hoping to use this blog as a way to encourage me to paint more of my army while I a bit more time than usual. As you can infer from the start I play Space Wolves and Orks. I picked up the Stormclaw set and stuck with those models as the basis for my armies. They aren't great, but they look and feel awesome! I will be posting current pictures with explanation on my painting style and techniques along the way. A few notes:
1. I don't have a fancy camera, I deal with what I have.
2. I am not looking to be a professional, I am an low end amateur painter if that, I am making tabletop quality models that look good while I play.
3. I do take criticism, but I may not follow if it takes too much time or I don't have the equipment, ie. airbrushing techniques, I only have paintbrushes.

I hope you all enjoy!

To start we have my space wolves so far, I will get to my Orks when I start painting them again. I didn't spend too much time on minor details and was trying a drybrush technique that ended you looking like snow, so I used more all over the models and it had a pretty cool effect for me. Some models have too much, others not enough, but it worked out in the end. Here are the models from the Stormclaw set.

Edit: Took me forever to figure the posting images out, because I'm smart and don't need help obviously. Thank you DAKKA FAQ!.

Here is a second batch of already completed guys. The Skyclaws were my latest batch and they turned out well, I made the packs look like they were burnt from use. A following post will add a close-up of their back so you can see it better. My next update will include a WIP Stormfang/Stromwolf as a big project. My goal is to be able to field a fully painted Drakeslayers Legendary Pack to play with before I move back to my Orks.

Finally fixed the pictures! I would have some great WIP pictures of a Stormfang, except I just noticed I put the engines on backwards... You can tell where I put the instructions down and said, "I got this!" So I will be working on some infantry instead. I usually only work on 5 guys at a time, but I just needed 2 more Grey Hunters to fill a squad and brought 3 Blood claws to make 5, to then add 2 more because I would hate to only have 8 guys for blood claws. If you have tips to swap the engines (I use plastic cement), or if you feel I can work with it as is let me know!

First some test models/Grey Hunters fill I already had:

Digging these so far mate! The blue you used is nicely done with the frost look. The effect on the scouts hair is well done. I haven't moved that far into my painting yet, still assembling my Wolves at the moment. Well done so far.

Nice wolves, but on my screen they are all upside down or sideways.

Yeah, they're looking good apart from the upside down nature of the pictures!

biggie_reg,

Afraid they are still upside down when I click them. As you now have them in your gallery maybe edit the post with a new link so we can see them in all their glory.

Sincerely,

CB

Update to the lucky seven models that I started. They are mostly done minus some cleanup, shades, drybrushing, and basing. Hopefully I can knock most of it out tonight. Still don't know where to go for the Stormfang.

Finally finished them up! Great to finish up some squads. I think I will paint up my Landspeeder next, still haven't figured out what to do with my Stormfang. I know that if I try to cut to redo the engines I will mess something up. Do you think it matters that the engines are backwards? Should I just paint as is?

Sorry if the lighting is too bright on this one, it was the best I could do with what I had. Hopefully a zoomed out one with the whole squad will fair better.

And here is the Landspeeder I will be working on. Don't know if I'll get much done this weekend though. The Orks will come after this or after my Stormfang when I figure that out.

After a break over the weekend I was finally able to finish this bad boy tonight. I think I need to take apart my Stormfang and rebuild it a bit so I can correct the engines, it bothers me too much. Next pictures may be some Orks (gasp!) that I have worked on already, but I have only used base coats/some minor shading and highlights as they were my first models "completed." I will periodically update them as I fix things and make them look better, but they don't look too bad for firsts.

Just what I was thinking!

Marines are looking good - you're getting a lot of depth out of the armour with drybrushing - I'm looking forward to seeing the waaagh!

Nice work on the Speeder. It's looking really great, the additional SW bits give it a bit of character too.

Thanks for the great comments! I'm nervous about using some techniques on the Orks as I can't just use a white to drybrush an highlight with the colors I'm using (or at least it doesn't seem that way). I will be fixing up some of these Ork models I've had for a while. 10 points to the first person to guess what what set I bought first! These Orks were the first models I have ever painted, some of them I called "complete" when I finished the basecoat so they are all a WIP, although Grukk is almost done. He looks alright as is and has some basic techniques on him, I'm afraid to mess with him since he is presentable! Enjoy the WAAAGH! inducing WIPs below.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
After a much longer night than expected I finished the Nobz (except the basing because I don't have their materials now)!

Alright I fixed up my original set of Orks with the exception of bases of course, that will happen later and is an easy step for me. Enjoy the creepy grots and the kanz! And I decided to touch up Grukk a little and will leave him as is from now on to see where I've come later.

Not extremely productive today, but finally finished my meganobz. Now for a bigger project, a battlewagon conversion! I was given a toy to convert as a gift and will be hopefully finishing it. Enjoy!

Hey Guys sorry for the delay, got a bit busy. I switched from my big project because I needed way more paint for that model in particular, I will update on the ship when I base coat it all later. For now enjoy a custom Big Mek (Wazappa) and some WIP boyz.

Sorry for the wait, little bit busy this weekend. Here's a small batch of Boyz a managed to finish. I will be alternating between some fun units and Boyz to lessen the mound of Boyz I need to paint. I'm thinking of working on my Kommandoes next as a great fun unit. Enjoy!

Ok, despite the week kicking while I was down I managed these bad boyz! They each have their own character and charm, but all possess that sneaky side. No foe has ever seen them, though they are rumored to be covered in purple (but that would be just silly, no one has ever seen a purple ork!).

I've been out for a bit due to regular life events, but I am back! And to continue the WAAAGH!!! we will need a proper Warboss to lead the Bad Moons that I will be making, so here comes one that will be propah!

I will clean up the base once I get my basing material back, then I will post updates for all models as I base them.

Watch out, here comes a lot of finished products, mostly just basing finished from previously posted models. New additions are 5 finished Boyz in the squad of 10. Next up is a Deff Dread and cranking out 5 more Boyz. I will be alternating 5 Boyz and a different project so I can eventually finish my 90 something Boyz and their Nobz. I am hoping a set of Boyz and an alternate project a week. Need to get my Boyz in the fight looking nice and propah!

Sorry if the quality was bad, had to quickly take the pictures and was not using my normal set-up, though all but 5 more Boyz were already shown prior to basing.

So I was not able to finish both projects, but I am close! Below are some WIP of my 2 projects and the next set. I just need some highlights on the boyz and dry brushing and basing for the boyz and deff dread. Basing will be complete on the weekend so I will just paint everyone and then post finished project next Sunday. Enjoy!

Hey guys another update on the way! I have had a hard time finishing projects but I finished my Deffdread and 5 more Boyz and put some paint on my Trukk and a little more on 5 more Boyz (Green Tide is slowly coming!) Hope you all enjoy, I hope I can pick up the pace soon to finish a decent sized army of fully painted and based Orks! Then I may do some more Space Wolves to flesh them out a little more.

This Deffdread's Basing went bad, some items did not glue well and left some gaps. Will have to fix later.

Hey everyone! I have been absent for a while and I will be completely absent for another 7 months or so. So far I have painted half of my Space Wolves (with some added from Christmas) and about 25% of my Orks complete. I used this to encourage me to paint, and I think it worked well. Thank you all for your support and comments so far! I will continue the blog once I can paint again. Keep on painting Dakka!

And I'm finally back! So I forgot I never showed my completed trump so I will add that the next update. Below are my set of 3 deffkoptas, each had been previously been painted (quite terribly) and I was too lazy to strip so if it looks very thick in some areas that may be why. But I like them. The bases are from our collection, one made by my wife and another came with some models. Hope you enjoy! I'm excited to be painting again!
