Hey all! I wanted to introduce my new channel, CAMHAMMER:

I've been wanting to give something back to the gaming community for a while now, and I thought that producing high quality video content would really do the trick. I'm making the kind of content I want to see, and I'm hoping you all enjoy it too! My first video's a Dawn of War review, and you can check it out here:

I'll be uploading every other Thursday with a new video! The channel will have:
- Army Showcases, showing off armies that see battle in my community, with the army’s creator describing their processes and reasoning behind the army
- Tutorials showing how to paint the armies from the showcases, with concise step by step instructions so you can follow along
- Plastic and Pixels, a show about video games based on tabletop games, comparing them to the source material and seeing how they stack up
- Event Reports, where I put on my journalist cap and report on gaming events I’ve gone to
- Battle Reports, edited and narrated after the fact so you’re not stuck watching an hour and a half of dudes rolling dice with crappy audio
And more to come!

I loved the comparison of Space Hulk=Aliens to Lost Patrol=Predator. Great review.

Thanks Carl!

What other kinds of videos would you folks like to see? I've got an army overview coming up soon showing off one of my armies, and I'm wrapping up another video with my thoughts on Age of Sigmar, but I'd like to know what y'all want to see me make.

After that first sentence, my immediate thought was “How about your retro-Ultras?” Part of that is because they are awesome, and deserve more attention. But another part is that they embody a slice of our hobby’s history. Some of us were there and lived through it. For many gamers these days though, it’s just some weird myth their strange uncle starts rambling about after a few pints. I think a series of flashback episodes, talking about what was going on at the time, what was in the WD, new releases of the era, etc. would be a lot of fun. Not just the 2nd ed your Ultras showcase, but back to RT, or even new fangled stuff like 3rd/4th/5th edition. For some players these days, even those “recent” editions pre-date them and their gaming group.

With GW heavily mining their past, and doing the made to order thing, I think this is a very topical subject.

Retro stuff

I will be doing an army overview of my Retro Ultras - I want to paint up the Land Raider for them first though, since it's such a great centerpiece model. I think doing a history video with the army would be a lot of fun though, thanks for the suggestion!

More reviews of the boxed games by GW.
Im tempted by a few of them to actually play and not carve up for 40k armies but reactions seemed to be mixed.
No sugar coating!

In light of Thanksgiving tomorrow, I posted this video a day early! This one's an overview of my Dark Angels, which some of you here on Dakka might have seen as it grew. I'm planning more videos in this format coming up, so I'd love to hear your feedback on them!

Excellent review. Definitely slowed me down on buying it right away. Might wait a little for a patch or two before getting it...or if it goes on sale soon.

It's still on the same 15% off sale it's been on for a while, but almost every other Warhammer game is on sale as part of the winter Steam sale right now!

Also, there has been a patch that improved performance that came out just last night. I haven't played enough to really test it, but when I played last night for half an hour it didn't crash at least. Also, as an addendum, playing this game with a nice pair of headphones is actually a way better experience. I might make a follow up video further down the road to reflect that.

Thanks for the update, will be keeping a close eye on this game. Looks like they did a great job with the atmosphere and environments, which is always a big plus for my enjoyment of a 40k video game.

What are your thoughts now that we played it with a full group today?

It's much more enjoyable in a group! Getting to rely on teammates to actually do stuff, even with the weird leveling system, was neat. I don't get why anyone would be the tactical Terminator though - the other four classes just, well, outclass him.

I also wrote that review when I was pretty raw from losing 2 hours of game time, so I was definitely harsher than I would be if I wrote it now. That's the pressure of trying to strike while the iron's hot, I suppose. I still think it might be a bit much for most people right now, but once it's $20 I'd say it would be a worthwhile investment. Playing with friends is definitely the way forward on it.

Great Video! I was on the fence on starting MT or trying an Astartes force, but I think that cinches it for me as I like the look of the troopers and the fact that they play similar to Dark Eldar, which is my main army. Plus I can always toss in some AM for a few o the nice tanks. :>D
