I was asking my friend if firearms would be effective against Wizards in the HP universe - she is a fan - I am not.

She thought they should be and even wrote a little piece where the main bad guy got taken out by a sniper which was fun - well to us anyway.

If its compatible with normal Batman then it could be amusing.

I would agree that we may be past peak Potter, but there is still a very sizeable fanbase with further movies, books, plays and associated tie ins to come. Whether there is much gamer/ Potter fan crossover I do not know, but with the right sculpts and game it could do well. I will certainly pick up a few minis to paint as gifts for the missus if the miniatures are nice and Knight have a pretty strong track record in that regard.

Well. Maybe they got into the licence because of the new movie this year. And the rumoured one of that new play that might come around 2020.

Oh no need to worry, Jakey Trolling looks set to be milking this particular cow until it's a skeletal cadaver, there's no danger we're passed peak Potter if the slavish legions of Flying Numpties she sets on people who she disagrees with on Twitter are anything to go by.

I'd be interested in a Harry Potter-Universe skirmish warband type game. There are loads of faction possibilities. However, I am not keen on Knight Models producing the miniatures, if that is indeed who is behind it.

On that note, is the book that came out from the play any good? It got a ton of coverage, but I was turned off reading it due to poor reviews. I really enjoyed the series, though, so might give it a try anyway.

Never considered this as a miniatures game, but Knight models has done very well with Batman so it should be interesting!

I'm to scared to go read it. I only read the summary of the story... and oh boy. SO from what I read and heard it was... really weird and allround bad. Like awful fan fiction levels of bad. The kind that makes you go "What... why?". It adds a giant... plothole into the story. That'd make the story highly impossible. At least if you go by the main books.

Tho if it's from the actual main books / movies. I'm certainly in. If it enables my to pain gold old Voldy.

I just looked up My Immortal on Wikipedia. Sounds like that fanfiction is a real hoot

A weird attitude to have to your fans at the very least. There will always be good and bad fanfiction around any universe. Hell, there's fanfiction surrounding celebrities. No amount of being a to your fans will stop people from writing about whatever you're known for.

I never understood all the Harry Pooter love. I struggled to stay awake through the first movie, then never gave it another thought.

BUT if this is the miniature game you've always been waiting for - then have fun with it.

If for some reason it becomes wildly popular in my area I might buy a squad of bad guys just so I can go around murdering annoying magical British border school students.

While the timing could have been better we are still getting a new HP movie in twenty days that is the first of a five movie series. So it's probably the second best time to be doing this!

I never watched the films - the books had a lot more interesting content in them that fortifies a very interesting universe. That being said, Rowling's prose leaves something to be desired - she certainly isn't the best writer, but she has made a very good story for people to follow. I listened to the whole series with the audiobooks narrated by Stephen Fry - so much better!

As for a miniatures game, I mean... okay? Yay? It's certainly something I haven't been begging for, but something I'd try if an opportunity arises.

I'd imagine the licence only just became affordable.

Also Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is going to give a huge amount of ideas for creatures and monsters of all kinds for this game. Combine that with groups like Gringotts, Death Eaters, Aurors and Hogwarts students/staff.. I think it has potential.

Assuming they have the license to it. Companies can carve up a universe all sorts of ways. They may only have rights to the original 7 (8?) films but not the new ones nor the books.

Honestly I think it'd make a better RPG.

Personally, I find the idea that a person with a net worth of approximately one billion dollars has any need to "milk" anything at this point rather laughable.

I think its more that she has a Twitter account and isn't reluctant in voicing her opinion on often controversial social issues, and her fans generally jump on the bandwagon when she does.

Not sure I follow this line of reasoning.

1. A new movie set in the same universe is coming out in a few weeks.
2. A extremely successful play set after the Potter books hit London this year.
3. Bi-coastal theme parks in the United States centered around Potter's universe.

I don't know what "hot' is considered, but it seems like the Harry Potter license is smoldering at least. Locally, because of one of the aforementioned theme parks, I hear Harry Potter commercials regularly on TV and radio. I don't think the setting is as far removed from the general public's minds as people here are making it out to be.
