I've typically seen two different types of headgear for VC local forces:
*Pith Helmet - painted light green or tan
*Rice Grass Hat (traditional pointed, with long rim) - painted tan

I've acquired some Viet Minh miniatures that I think will work well for VC local forces, but they have a different style helmet then listed above. Not sure how to describe it, but I found this picture here:

Any idea what kind of helmet this is? Should it always be painted black, like in this picture?

That is a tuff one.You may have to send out the Big P signal for that. If anyone would know he would , especially sine he wrote a force on force supplement.Ambush Valley.

It's a Pith helmet with a black overall material.
