I played this game a few times recently, really enjoyed it. The simple mechanic was easy to pick up and after the first game we were able to play through each game quite quickly.

Seriously considering picking up a copy, but I am a bit concerned about the replayability. Is the game so simple as to quickly become boring?

Dominion is always popular in my boardgaming group. It's definitly better at 3 players, like many of those games are, at 2 it can quickly become a little bit less dynamic. The version we had had either 5 or 6 card groups to choose from, wether you wanted an economic game, an interactive game, or some other weirder choices. You could also just pick up some pool of cards and mix them up once you are a bit used to the pre-built options, we did that and had a lot of fun, although some combos were clearly broken (the Market card can lead to some pretty insane combos).

The only criticism I have of it is an "autistic mode" game, the economic card pools have zero or only one interaction card, and the pools built for interaction really aren't even that interactive.

Also, check which version you will buy. There are a lot of boxes, and some are standalone, some are expansions, some are compatible, some aren't, and they all look the same.

High replayability. Easily trillions of combinations.

For more interaction, pick up Intrigue instead of Dominion. First edition Dominion and Intrigue are going OOP, so I'd pick up Intrigue asap. Second editions replace less interesting Action cards with new ones. Intrigue money cards will be removed in 2nd edition.

Also, wait on the Hot Deals forum on BGG for sales.

It really shines with 1 or 2 expansions. That way the variety of cards and their interactions explodes.

Dominion is a great game. Easily teachable to non gaming family members as well.

So I gave Dominion 2nd Ed to my brother and his wife for Xmas. We played through four or five games while I was visiting and had a really great time.

A really nice surprise was that my 9 year old was interested in joining in and picked it up straight away, winning her first game and losing the second by a single card.

Highly recommend this game.
