I just wanted to throw this out there to the community and get some feedback. We're going to start shooting some video battle reports of Hail Caesar in 15mm for our youtube channel (The Acceptable Casualties) next month. The mix of armies we have at the moment are Early Imperial Rome, Parthians, Late Hoplite Greeks, Early Achaemenid Persians and possible Egyptians (friends army). Here are some questions I had for everyone, feel free to fire away:

1. Are you opposed to seeing non historical match ups of armies that may be separated by a few centuries or in other regions of the world?

2. Do you prefer to see themed battle scenarios with uneven sides or pitched battles of evenly matched armies?

3. Would you mind seeing a half painted or unpainted armies that were a WIP on the table if it meant seeing more frequent battle reports with a larger variety of armies?

4. Would an ongoing story driven campaign be something you'd be interested in watching more so than just pick up games?

5. What era would you most be interested in when it comes to watching battle reports?

Thanks in advance for answering these questions. It will help us a lot in forming the content we're planning on putting out for Hail Caesar in the near future.

Once again Thanks,
Joe

I prefer written bat reps as they take less time to digest.

That said, make sure they are time-elapsed and edited. I really don't want to see every measurement, hear every rules question, or see every quibble about move distance.

If I had 2 hours to watch a batrep, I would just go play a game myself.

As for the rest of your questions. Any approach you take is fine.

Joe, thanks for considering putting some time and effort into my entertainment!!!! I have just entered into Historicals in the last couple of years and I have been hard pressed to find good batreps. So here's to you!!!

I am not opposed to this if it's a balanced game. Say before hand though. Consider a name identifier like time warp or something...

Themed battles would be rad for me if you teach me something about history. So do a theme if it fits the actual conflict or if it's more fun for you. Pitched battles are always cool for learning game mechanics. I'd like both.

Historicals take FOREVER. Totally understand if you need to hold off. I prefer entertainment in gray rather than imagining you huddled away painting...

Campaign would be cool for painted. Pick up games are fine.

Thanks for the feedback DrG! We have fun putting our Flames of War batreps together so we figured we'd give it a go with some other games we play. Hopefully we can put together a decent package that covers most of the things people like seeing.

We've talked about getting into Black Powder also. American Civil War or Napoleonics have had the most interest from the guys we game with.
