Brilliant. I've seen the method where one applies the glaze and then uses another brush to drag the colour out. This is a much simpler way of achieving the same effect. Thank you.

hey mate, exeptional tutorial, one question though.

How do you choose colours for highlights and darker areas?
mixing with white seems to be a relatively easy way for a highlight, but purple? looks great but how did you choose it?
and would it work if, for example you just used a darker yelow?

Good question. You can just use a darker yellow, or a browny orange if you like. The reason I used purple is a colour theory trick. If you look on a colour wheel you'll see purple is directly opposite to yellow. Opposite colours are complimentary and look really good next to each other. So you can shade red with green for example. Hope that makes sense!
